People are acting like it's Ebola (with something like a 90% mortality rate).
So yeah, as far as viruses go, it's proven itself thus far to be fairly non-lethal.

Of course they want you to "buy now", as they want sucker money coming back in....Market has a long way to go in the next month before we see any semblance of a bottom...

When a virus has an unknown nature and no cure...people will overreact to it. That's a given. The public is jaded...and they mistrust the governing authorities when danger looms. Some "young-and-healthy" NBA players refused to play last night...and, who am I to tell them that they erred in judgment? To each his own...

I think you're overreacting too...truth be told, the market is back at the level it was one year ago. We have lost one year of gains thus far.
The trading volume has been nowhere near what it was like in 2008.
So far, this is pretty much a non-substantial move in the markets...it's a BIG move, yes, but it doesn't seem to have a lot of backing yet.
Thus, it COULD pop back up just as violently as it went down.
I want to see lot more volume in this move before I start thinking like you are thinking.

FED stimulus already eaten up as DOW down -2000 again...It's not enough, and too many have surrendered in multiple industries that are all interconnected, thus it sinks by it's own weight, with nothing to stop it for a while.

Fairly non-lethal to the healthy.
Very lethal to the impaired.
See the Washington nursing home for proof.

Packs a wallop for a substantial amount of the population. If allowed to spread unabated, would quickly and completely overwhelm healthcare facilities. This is the main reason why these social distancing and precautionary steps are being taken, to flatten the curve and mitigate this eventuality.
But it's already here, and will continue to spread.

He never said "buy now". He predicted the summer was where the rebound would begin. Still has a ways to go. I'll time my buys as best I can, just have to observe the circus going on

I would worry just as much if my elderly loved ones caught the flu. And the flu comes around every single year.
90% of flu-related deaths are in people 65 years of age or older.
In fact, the mortality rate for the regular flu among this age group ranges from near 20 to as high as 50% as you travel past the age of 65 (also depends on whether you are male or female).

Having 25+ employees in the restaurant business is what's worrying me.
At what point do folks stop going out for any reason, much less a luxury like going out to eat?
I have a lot of folks who need to work

The economic effects of all of this are going to be far more devastating and widespread than the disease itself.
That's the truly sad part.
When people wake up to this, they're gonna be like "WTF did we just do?"

Plain and simple...people can't afford to get sick and stop working. Too many people are living "paycheck-to-paycheck", with very little savings to back them up...and a virus with no cure or vaccine scares the heck out of them. True, there will be some sort of "government handout"...but most people know that that isn't NEARLY enough for their needs. Most people need to keep working.
"Dying" isn't the only concern here.
