Many facts have been reported incorrectly about Whitey & the Irish syndicates of Boston. I spent all of my formative years between Bunker Hill and Winter Hill.
There are a couple of RI guys who post here who also know these things. They know that I know and I know that they know. A lot can be told now.

Some stories will be racing related at Suffolk. How and what trainers/jockeys were in the pockets. How they got in the pockets. The numbers rackets and other rackets that were run from pools, wagers and events that took place on the Suffolk Downs tote board and around the racetrack

Don't go around naming trainers or jockeys...it's just going to get deleted anyway unless there is public domain proof...which I know there won't be...

On **, 19** ****** ***** was found dead in the front seat of his car in a parking lot at Jones Beach on Long Island.
The death was reported as a suicide by asphyxiation when the exhaust pipe of his vehicle was found to have been deliberately blocked.
Much speculation about ****** ****death followed when a major scandal erupted involving mobster ********, a member of the Boston, Massachusetts Winter Hill Gang who admitted to paying jockeys to fix hundreds of races at ******* tracks and five other states.

The stories of the ***** protection of Bulger, and his Winter Hill gang, are now the stuff of legend around Boston. Like the time that the gang fixed races at Suffolk Downs in East Boston, and several other racetracks, by paying jockeys to hold back their horses. A score of Winter Hill hoods went to jail on that one, but not Bulger. In fact, when the smoke cleared, Bulger was the gang's leader.
Actually that is not true, Bulger was never a winter hill person so he could never be the leader. Never.

He was sent to his death. He knew it was coming. He was just transferred a week ago. He walked into it knowingly.

The Real Suffolk Downs Paddock.
This is The Paddock Cafe. Its on Winter Hill, ~10 miles from Suffolk Downs. People always said that Suffolk was managed from here. It was billed as a family restaurant. Does this look like a family restaurant to you?
Here is where you went for Permissions. You want to Claim a Horse, run a dice or card game, take sports, take horses, run machines... The Paddock issued permissions. If someone was taking horses that was not supposed to be taking horses, it was worked out here. Whitey was not allowed in here.

https://nypost.com/2018/10/31/meet-t...whitey-bulger/
Excerpt:
Fotios “Freddy” Geas is suspected of rubbing out Bulger, 89, on Tuesday morning — hours after the aging mobster was transferred to Hazelton federal penitentiary in West Virginia.
“He’s a rich man now. He’ll run any prison he’s in,” a law enforcement source told MassLive.com.
Geas, 51, is serving a life sentence at Hazelton for the 2003 murders of one-time mob boss Adolfo “Big Al” Bruno and associate Gary Westerman.
The former West Springfield, Massachusetts, resident has not disputed his role in the death of Bulger, according to the Boston Globe.
A law enforcement source said the wheelchair-bound Bulger was “badly beaten” by a group of inmates, including one who used a padlock wrapped in a sock. He was found unresponsive in his cell just after 8 a.m.
