Last week I saw a tweet that as of the time being all 5 furlong races carded for Turf are going to be moved to Tapeta at GP. This was from Mike Welsch last week. Im not sure it was only because weather or something else. People that responded said it was a underlying problem not weather related. Does anyone know if this is a fact?

I mean I assumed that it was due to the turf conditions and that sprints tear up the course more than routes do. To me, it had nothing to do with the weather.

I noticed today that DRF Winners Book no longer differentiate between dirt and crapeta. Last time was June.

Way to go, freaking morons. Makes less sense than the bonehead BAQ idea.

For me GP is dead. I would rather not play than play that S***hole.

Equibase also lumps "all-weather" in with dirt when you filter statistics based on surface. It's pure stupidity.

I personally can't stomach races that are run on synthetic surfaces. Sadly, I'm likely calling it quits when Belmont installs their rubber track. (yes, I can beat the races if they were run on munster cheese... what I can't do is justify spending my time in such a manner)

I gave up GP last year when they couldn't manage to time their turf races.
It may sound like I'm all doom and gloom... it's bc I'll miss horse racing.

Nevertheless, I've been enjoying my other hobbies.

@FRMNBRI - Check out this guys youtube channel. I've watched him several times and he seems to do fairly well betting gulfstream park. I don't watch his videoes or streams much bc I typically don't play the tracks that he does...

Same. The closing of aqueduct and installing the crapeta at Belmont will make NYRA a one circuit bet for me.

I know as a RaceLens user, I find this very annoying. Especially when I hear how turf horses, not dirt horses, are, all other things being equal, more simpatico with Tapeta. I want them all broken out separately. (At least with RaceLens, I can create my own stats to be all-weather only.)

Speaking of Tapeta - now that Arlington is gone and Turfway switched to Tapeta - are there any other Polytrack or non-Tapeta synthetic surfaces in North America?

I think they are all Tapeta:

Golden Gate Fields (outer main 'dirt' course)
Gulfstream (inner 'dirt' course)
Presque Isle Downs (outer main 'dirt' course)
Turfway Park (outer main 'dirt' course)
Woodbine (outer main 'dirt' course)

You can change how stats for surfaces are viewed in Race Lens to dirt (excluding all weather), all-weather only or dirt (including all-weather). Send me a PM or email if you want help doing this.

Someone watch the last race at GP and see if there is something that stands out with last final stretch. More like that last 50 yards before the finish. Dont want to make you guys waste your time watching the whole race on TAPETA!!!!!!
