Anyone is entitled to bet as late as they want, what exactly is the issue with that ? Granted, the computer based players can get much bigger bets in at the last second (10,000 to win for instance) and you might have trouble doing that at the window, but something tells me few or none of you are ever going to need that anyway.

If folks aren't happy with the parimutuel system , they should demand nationwide Betfair access, and bet at fixed odds among themselves.
The parimutuel system is why we play. Fixed odds is for casino and lottery players.

There was a huge drop on a winner at SA today, something like 9 to 5 down to 4 to 5 during the running. This wasn't Fonner Park or something.

Yes...but this caused the odds on all the losing horses to rise.

Hey, hey, hey. Now that is just uncalled for. What did Fonner ever do to you?

Really? Then all those sharp players banking in Europe for the last 15 years, they should give the money back?

You're correct, shortly after start 1.60 to .90 (might have been .99 ,no way to tell at this point)

Could have been an adjustment coupled with some big puncher betting , but yep, that's a big late move for a pool that size.

Make no mistake, if you watch Hong Kong you see bets like that ALL THE TIME late, and their pools are much larger.

And exchange players in jersey and bookmakers in other parts of the world.

Just because we’ve used it for 100 years in the United States does mean that we cant change the way we play.

We as horseplayers should have options in order to maximize profits.

If you like pm have at it.

But other options should be made available to the horseplayer.

when Lou Smith was alive and owned Rockingham, he not only allowed and encouraged betting the break. he used to keep the windows open an extra 10 seconds to accommodate the after the bell guys which included "THE SPEED BOYS". from what i saw of those guys i don't think they beat Rockingham Park. the way they did it back then was they had 1 guy in the $50 window and another guy with binoculars calling the horse everytime. they would punch out as many $50 tickets as they could get punched.

it used to go on at Bay State Raceway and later Foxboro Raceway with a guy by the name of Kenny Weinbaum, i think teach knew this guy. he was about 1/3 rd of the racetracks handle that did about $600,000 per night. Kenny, god rest his soul, was actually paid by the track to play after the bell. he was actually pretty good at it and might have broken even to the whole deal because he was betting strictly gimmicks and overbet the pools. after the hiatus of harness at that track, Kenny moved on to the Meadowlands and i am not sure if he had an after the bell situation there

If a gambler really doesn't like the odds dropping, timing issues, a sandy GP turf course, bad DQ's, run up distances, questionable trainers/jockeys, bot betting and everything else that is wrong with racing, then why do they continue to get record setting handles in the biggest markets?

https://www.paulickreport.com/news/t...orld-cup-card/

Or the $1.8 billion wagered in 2017 on GP

https://www.paulickreport.com/news/t...-wagered-2017/

At least they time the races right at Fonner Park and have more grandstand seating than GP

Any online vent session does nothing to fix the known issues headed by the inept executive teams at most tracks, with those same execs. hoping to get a bonus paid out by end of fiscal year AND getting the job based on knowing the right people / friends when they don't even have the background for a position they currently hold.

I would rather take 6/5 on blackjack any day of the week, knowing all 52 cards are in each deck, instead of reading on every online racing platform regarding the sport's issues and pondering as a bettor which horse is juiced today or if the PP's are accurate with some bad chart writers and hand timed races, or you can't download programs, even contest races and their integrity issues, or the ongoing drama in Pennsylvania, etc.

The list of inexcusable mistakes in this sport is nauseating

It is pretty obvious, the big CRW teams are making a killing on the backs of the smaller players at GP. That is why the handle is so big. Why the smaller players continue to bet the place I can't say.

I've quit betting GP for a while unless it is a big race, or I think I have a horse worthwhile.

Otherwise, the odds are so diluted and worthless it has become the most unbettable track in the country.

Yes...but can we be sure that all 52 cards are in each deck?
