Yes, everything was implemented retroactively. I don't think this will ever happen again, certainly not at the level this adjustment entailed.

There was definitely a blog post on this, I thought about the top 3, but not beyond that. Personally I don't see much value in predicting those near the back, but maybe others do. There is also a post about some changes involving blinkers and 2nd time starters and the pace projector.

So, I decided to try them again and have done that twice over the last month.

Overall impression: very slick - the layout is pretty easy to get used to, sort of like when the Racing Times came out. The figs are awesome, of course, navigation is intuitive, and 90+% of the relevant content from other PPs is available. Having instant access to the charts is sweet. It's still taking me a bit more time to go through a race, but I'm getting faster. I have not used the notes and wagers tools, but with the goal of an online experience without paper, those should come in handy. I'm definitely keying in on some horses that run well that did not jump out to me with BRIS or DRF PPs.

Pricing: Some posters in the thread complained of the price rise when the introductory period was over, but 3 beans for a PP of this quality is great value. What's even better is the "day pass" rate of 6 beans for all tracks. This is awesome for recreational players like myself who can only play 4-8 days per month. The only downside is now I have to go reactivate my TVG account...

Printing: I don't print out the PPs, but this is a legitimate gripe. I have trouble using a tablet or ereader, and still prefer hardcopy when reading a book - but my large PC monitor works fine for the PPs. I can see where the pen/paper/pencil people want easy printouts.

Data Files: I don't know enough about the business to say what's the best model in terms of pricing, penetration of the unique content, and dilution of prices paid to say what's best for TimeFormUS. But like any business, it's always an advantage to create a moat and keep your product unique to optimize profits. So good for them. I'm mostly a virtual pen and paper 'capper, and so I'd rather see the figures retain more value, and distributing them in softcopy would only hurt that value.

Nitpicks: The biggest one was not have the current race come up when changing tracks, and that is being fixed. Others for me are: retain the M/L displayed with current odds, the post and field size section could be reduced to "3/7" or "1/12", odds the horse went off at in the PPs would be nice, and the workouts are small and not easy to read. I'd prefer them to be displayed by date in between the PPs.

But if nothing was changed from here on out, I'd still be giggling like a chimp.

Question: Maybe I missed it skimming through the 50 pages of comments in the thread, but is there going to an "Expanded PPs" some day versus the "Fast PPs"? Or will the site detect and allow displaying of more data for those not on a tablet or phone?
Thanks for the nice review.

One of the nitpicks is about the odds the horse went off, they are there, right next to weight, equipment, and medication.

I'm a little confused on the "Expanded PPs" thing. There is a button that hides breeding and connection info to see more running lines, but other than that all info is available regardless of format.

At some point there will be a phone version that will be phone viewing friendly, but will obviously contain less info as well.

D'oh! My bad. I was looking for the horse's odds to the right of the running line.

As for the "expanded pps" comment, there are several things today that require clicking on a button or two to view - the older workouts, the pace figs OR the splits, the trainer's stats and the career record of the horse. If I'm viewing on a large monitor, it would be nice to be able to display all that content as part of the expanded view. Sort of an expansion of the expanded view.

BTW - another for the higher number of races listed in the PPs (sort of like the Breeder's Cup preview issue), and also the complete (what appears to be lifetime) listing of workouts. Very nice.

Yes, they are lifetime workouts.

I get it now, thanks. A PC version basically. Possible down the line, but I think the goal is getting the current one with everything we want first.

Love the past performance! My question is with the race ratings. I feel like they help show class of the horse in a very visual way which I like, easy to see what types of races they have been in. Now just for example XYZ horse was competitive in the last 3 races. Race ratings for those were lets just say 88, 83,86 and now todays PROJECTED race rating is 94. Would you consider this a major jump in class or minor. How if not how many points before you would consider a jump up?

Keep up the hard work.

The scale is the same as the figures, so I think it is safe to use the chart I posted in this post:

http://www.paceadvantage.com/forum/s...&postcount=742

That is in lengths, but I think it applies to class as well.

Was pretty cool watching the gate scratched removed almost instantly at GP for R1 today, and everything adjusting to it.

New feature, now you can see all the running styles, early ratings, and late ratings in one place. This info is also included on the PDF files generated by the print button.

Also:

This one is cool. Shows upcoming races by post time for easier navigation.

Damn it, Craig, you're fast. I was gonna post these links. Anyway, working on single screen display, condensed, and replays next.

Would be nice if the turf charts showed runup distances and rail settings.

I will check out the product again when you get condensed figs that can be printed and a single screen display with basic info.

I have a question. Current odds aren't shown on the preview screen? Seems like there is plenty of room to put them right next to M/L if we shift the spotlight fig to the left....
