Also in 2014, Papp was interviewed for an NBC News story about the medication overuse she saw in her early days practicing in the Thoroughbred business. In 2012, she was a witness in front of a U.S. House of Representatives subcommittee hearing on racing integrity. She told the subcommittee “it is not uncommon for me to see, on race day, a practitioner enter a stall in one of the private barns or the detention barn with three to ten syringes full of medication.”
This, years before the federal investigation of trainers for allegedly altering medical records to hide the use of therapeutic medications on race day.
