Its simple. If there's an absolute need to return we will.
Most of the ISIS sanctioned attacks since 911 have occurred on foreign soil, yet we seem to do most of the work there. Perhaps Trump wants to see who, if anybody, will fill the void we leave there. He's also tired of the US paying for everything everywhere and instead of respect for it we get criticized.
Its easy to understand why his decision isn't a popular one, but on the other hand I can understand why he made it.

I'm sure France will step right up to the plate and take over for us.

Trump is holding the Syrian people and stability (such that it is) of the region hostage over wall money. He doesn’t care about either. Just red meat for his base.

Rarely agree with you, but Hillary isn't called out for his neocon tendencies enough, so good point.

Why should he care about Syrians?

At least you admit he has a base.

Trump is not trying to hurt you, he's trying to help you.

Because...the Syrian people are being tortured, bombed and gassed by a tyrant every bit as evil as Saddam Hussein and as leader of the free world and commander in chief of our armed forces he has the power to relieve their suffering...that’s why.

I think your post is very thoughtful.

Perhaps he also has information about the next attack.

Maybe Syria should apply for statehood.

Could it be we are just getting out our troops so that they don’t become victims in a war that heats up now...it wouldn’t be good to rain down bombs on our own guys now would it...there is no real indication that this war is over...in fact with Putin placing defensive missile systems in Syria they can effectively create a no-fly zone there...Isreal will not be able to make their regular bombing forays in that zone anymore...I’m expecting that will not be acceptable to them...they will want to continue their bombing raids....so this defense system will likely be attacked by a coalition of Western and pro-Western Forces (aka ISIS)...I expect the war to heat up there, and also in Ukraine.

The good news is that Bibi is facing corruption charges back home and if removed from office things may actually quiet down there and in Iran.

This is great as I'm hearing more and more Democrats joining the war mongers in the GOP. TYPICAL hate Trump idiocy on display.

The Democrats would be more than willing to start a World War if that could get Trump out of office.

There is barely a coherent thought on this thread.

ISIS isn't defeated.
We have allies in the region we work with.
We are actively still killing terrorists.
We shouldn't fold a section of the Middle East to Iran and Russia
There is currently no exit strategy to fill the vacuum our leaving creates
This allows for the next JV Squad to spring up.

People that do more than bankrupt casino's think this is one of the dumbest things they've ever seen.

Syria is an extremely low cost / high reward venture at this point. It costs us basically nothing to piss off our foes and kill terrorists... That's .
