This almost sounds like a repeat of what happened in around Mission Viejo Ca,
shown on an episode of "I survived" on the Court Tv channel. Two women rode past an abandoned bike on a trail which was later found to belong to a guy drug off trail and killed by the same mountain lion that attacked one of the women. Her friend hit the lion with rocks and it finally let go and ran off. The woman had some permanent facial scaring but it wasn't real bad. What do mountain lions have against mountain bikers?

A lot of the mountain lion attacks they don't eat the victims.
