Nobody posted about this? Ortiz v Lopez?
Wasn't much of a fight now was it?
Where was Suff when you need him? He could have broken that up quickly...

I know a couple lower level jockeys and they both say the same thing: they cannot stand Paco. Literally nobody in the jocks room likes him. Wouldn’t shock me to find out if the other riders step up and pay Ortiz’s fine for him.
Paco probably didn’t fight back because he’s got a lengthy record with the stewards at Gulfstream and was probably afraid of getting kicked out if he fought back.

Indeed, that is what he said.

Its rich when a rider who has certainly pushed the limits of safe riding goes after another rider who laughs at the notion of safe riding.
Of course not sure the issue is safety but the claiming foul and acting job put on.
Dont you wait to do this in the jocks room though?

If Paco was on that Top Gun Tommy? I can see Irad losing his cool over those antics. I don't condone violence, but I punched a hole in the wall watching the replay.
At least from the section on the video - the 4 had him beat, and the 1 was ridden recklessly to brush the inside rear of the 4, and then the apparently claimed a ridiculous foul against the ! WTF?
To make matters a bit worse, the was probably a better horse, simply proving best, and relatively highly regarded 3yo (Is Known Agenda a horse that beat Greatest Honour??).
that's one piece of one race, and there is the rest of the race + the recent meet/card/races where competition and frustration could have been getting out of control.
I know it's warm in Florida, but there have been some questionable rides of late...
Also, I like athletes and jockeys (like Paco) who put up a fight, and aren't out there to concede a victory or play part in a rival's highlight reel, but are competitive. In this particular instance, from the piece I did see, - looked like Paco got silly and emotional, and Irad was in the right.

What is this, the 3rd or 4th time these two have been involved in a inquiry this meet? Been building for a while now. Irad tried to sell one earlier, now this. Two aggressive riders, that have mixed it up before. Keeps happening, the reason for this is the Stewards have allowed it to get to this point. In this race, Irad went from the 3 path to the rail, causing the incident. Then shows how much of a pussy he is by hitting Paco while he is sitting in a chair. Should have been suspended for at least a week.

Did you see that ride the other day on turf (Irad may have been on a Motion horse?), where there was a heavy favorite rival, and also a third contender ridden by his brother Jose (may have been on a Shug horse, don't remember)?
Irad was on a horse that was projected to be on the pace, and the horse took a fair amount of mid-priced money, but he blew the race open with a ridiculous hot pace that had no chance of winning.
It looked even worse, given that Jose was well positioned from the break, and with the pace setup, almost beat the chalk. His brother didn't happen to win the race, but it did eliminate the horse Irad was on (who some bet or keyed in hopes of using the pace advantage).
May not have even affected the outcome, but the optics were bad. Obviously no explanation was offered to the public regarding the tactics.

I'm 100% sick of Irad's shenanigans to the point I'm not even betting races he is involved in, mostly because he gets a free pass from the stewards no matter how much of a menace he is during a race.

And this fine...without days...is pretty much another free pass.
We all know this...Paco ain't taking this lying down. You KNOW something's coming.

The race I remember happened about three weeks ago. Irad and Paco hit the stretch in a turf race, right next to each other, with Irad on the inside. Both were trying to close, Irad tried to force his way outside and Paco held his ground, causing Irad to check behind a horse in front of him. Irad stared at Paco for the whole stretch run after that. Anyone think that this can, or already is, a dangerous situation?

This is a big part of my point, Irad thinks he is entitled to save all the ground AND get a free pass out in the stretch. And really, who can blame him? The stewards consistently allow it. Why wouldn't he do it repeatedly?
As a bettor, if he is on a 4-5 shot I'd normally think should be 2-1, I have to change my expectations because he will bully his way into a perfect trip with little or no repercussions.

I'm going to take this into a conspiracy minded different direction.
I think certain trainers get too many perfect trips for it all to be an accident or great riding. It's almost like certain riders want mounts from certain guys. So they give a free pass to certain trainers to save all the ground in the back covered up but ensure that when the real running starts the rail opens, the Red Sea parts, or he's given any easy path to the outside to close down the leaders.
I'm at the point where I build "likely to a get a perfect trip" into my thinking when it comes to trainers because I don't trust the riders.

Top Gun Tommy too tired / sore to change leads - not sure if Paco's fault.
