"Calvin cain't win outside a Kentucky."

"Calvin, cain't win outside Oaklawn."

"Calvin, cain't win outside the Midwest."

"Calvin, cain't win against the top NY horses and trainers, he's outta his league."

Calvin, though its been said, he ain't real smart . . . . still he knows, somehow, what works. He kept with his usual penchant for the rail! Serves him well, knowing the shortest way around.

I'm absolutely dying laughing here, honestly I am. Things haven't been this good in a while.

yeah that win should boost him all the way up to a blistering 6 percent for the meet.

He didn't go to Gulfstream to dominate. He went for Take Charge Indy.

He's doing quite well at Oaklawn.

Yea he did, but Leparoux had plenty of chances to get in the race, just chose to wait instead of being aggressive, how is he gonna handle a 20 horse field riding like that?

I hate Leparoux and can never get right with him. I just find him way too passive on dirt...that big run won't get you home on dirt like it does on turf.
True, he had his chances to get UR out but elected to wait and wait

And most of what you just posted IN QUOTES is absolutely true. Ever heard of the blind squirrel who finds that nut every now and then?

I know that you have...

When the top trainers in the land start fighting over Calvin, you let me know.

Sorry i started the Calvin thing y'all...i just thought he rode a nice race.
No, i don't think this puts him in the uber elite category, but surely he's above the blind squirrel huh?
He's found lotsa nuts man.

And when Grits types the word "CAIN'T" it isn't a misspelling...it's typing with an southern accent

You're right...he surely is above a blind squirrel.

But I'm not sure how winning the Florida Derby negates all those things in quotes...

If Calvin is so damn awesome, how come he isn't riding the Derby favorite every year? After all, he is the master of Churchill Downs, is he not?

Why aren't trainers tripping over themselves to get him on their horse? Why wasn't he riding Union Rags?

You didn't start a "Calvin thing" I was coming here to post how much I love him and was pleased to see ya'll agreeing with me.

PA, he's not in the elite jockey category, but he sure can pick his spots, IMO.

I'm not saying he's an elite jock but give this some thought...the dream of every jock is to win the KY Derby and Calvin has realized that dream 3 times...I would bet that a lot of so called "Elite" jocks would love to have his record...say what you will, you can't take that away from the man..
