These Travers splits provide solid confidence the horse can handle 10F with ease. Tiz did not slow down as the race progressed.
24.71, 23.59, 24.47, 24.53

He can be near the engine and just outrun everyone. It is the Derby and weird stuff can happen. Perhaps biggest concern is getting inside draw and getting pinned but that's pretty much the case with most Derby runners. Possible he doesn't respond as well to wet track, albeit the Jockey Club was so long ago now it could have been an aberration.

You will certainly get paid very well if you can beat him.

New York version of California Chrome (won the 2014 SA Derby in much the same way w/ a similar BSF while on a massive win streak).

That isn't a complaint if he shows back up at 4 (or dare I say 5).

The problem is that the fractured Triple Crown is within his grasp since there is no Test of the Champion (ie 12 furlongs) on the ledger.

And when you compound that with this facile Travers win and the chatter about a Grand Slam or Quadruple Crown or whatever, if he wins both the Derby and the Preakness the likelihood of him stepping out as an older horse is minuscule at best.

Here's hoping Nobel Prize is some kind of dirt freak or--more realistically--Honor A.P. gets a new jockey...

Yes, already sold to Coolmore America/Ashford after the Belmont Stakes win. But Sackatoga retains control for his racing career, which Knowlton describes in the article below as "the remainder of his 3 yo year and beyond." They enjoyed Funny Cide for a few years of racing since he was a gelding - then it was a long time between drinks. Tagg is also not one who is able to simply look forward to the next load of crack 3yos in the barn. I'd say these older gentlemen will enjoy their good horse on the track for at least another year.

There's been a couple years where the chalk won, but with the rest bigger odds and the payouts were good. Of course, there will be those who do the Tiz, AP, Art and Authentic ticket, and might get $12 back. Hopefully there will be many who do just that, and put some money in the pools for the rest of us

Is it bad that we haven't heard much on Tiz the Law regarding the Preakness?

I've seen a bunch of fans and commentors say that Tiz the Law should be pointed to the Preakness, but very little confirmation from the connections.

Sounds like it is far from certain.

With the rush to breeding for Honor A. P., and the lack of positive hype on Tiz the Law returning in the Preakness, I've had an honest question as to whether he's really going to race in Baltimore. Seems quiet.

Hopefully Tiz the Law is reading this and "tells them" soon.
