Whatever happened to Arabian races?

An Arabian Stake today at Pimlico.

I was at Delaware Park around 1990, and had never heard of Arabian breds before. I was hanging on the rail at the paddock when the "horses" came an and I was thinking to myself - MAN! these are not horses - they are PONIES! Then I opened the DRF and looked at the race and the TIMES.....

Someone on Twitter said the Arabian race at Pimlico yesterday handled a lot of money. That shows you can put almost anything on a card that already has plenty of big races and it will handle a lot of money. You can probably create a Super Card and do better if you take a couple of stakes off it for other days than create a Super Duper card.
