It's not the same as it used to be. You would never see claiming races. Now you see 2 or 3 per card except for Saturday's and maybe Sunday's. The quality of horses aren't the same but the betting oppurtunities are.

This is hilariously incorrect. You should see what the cards ACTUALLY "used" to look like.

Maybe you should play Del Mar where they pay "incentives" to owners to bring in cheap claimers (who can earn more money finishing up the track at Del Mar than they could earn at the lower quality tracks they run at even in if they hit the board) to make their fields larger.

If you do prefer playing Del Mar, watch out for that horse shipping in from Grants Pass or Arizona Downs

I don't play the California tracks. Del Mar has gone downhill in terms of quality as well

The race I'm looking forward to is the Whitney. Based on early reports it could look more like a legitimate old style Grade 1 than the watered down versions we typically get these days around the country.

really great to see full fields (have only looked at the first day, thus far).

Belmont (this year) was one of my favorite all-time meets. Really loved it. Great racing, great menu. Even so, with me being a grumpy nerd; there were a bunch of dirt stakes or decent restricted class, where I was frustrated to see only '6' or so entered as if it were a full field. Hoping the majority of this meet is nearly as loaded as the first day.

I will LOVE getting value for my opinion, and not discarding as many verticals.

With the complete races does come a bit more coverage. It's going to be a challenge to be smart when bridging the gap between DD<->P5. P3's $1min could occasionally prove interesting with the fuller fields but you want the sequence's value to really 'demand' the p3 or you are usually making a tradeoff with a P5's fair value of 15%.

Should be a great meet. I envy those of you who are able to travel and see some live racing. Maybe if I get hot early.

Feels like there is some pent-up energy having gone through the pandemic and building back up into great live racing. Favorite time of the year as well.

Wishing everyone good luck and a positive meet.

enjoying the twitter 'troll' act from Ken Rudolph, Chris DeCarlo and others "What's so good about Saratoga?"

I get that they are trolling for attention, but in a way it's also a positive, as the vast majority of responses are coming to defense of Saratoga.

I would hardly call his question on Twitter “trolling”...but anyway that’s a whole other subject altogether. What I do find interesting is his response to one of the comments that he ( Ken Rudolph) is not a track person. Really ? How can you be in this business and NOT be a track person?

Nice to see they also offer a traditional pick 6.

California former home of the the traditional pick 6, that was taken from the Caliente 5-10, now has the sucker jackpot version originated at Beulah.

Guess where I'll play.

I've been to Del Mar and Toga.

Forget the tracks. Saratoga is a great place to summer.

Del Mar.......is still California.

Upstate NY in the Summer is practically heaven to vacation in.

I used to love to go Fishing up state. When I wasn't such a fatass old man I used to snow ski every year up there. My wife is from way upstate and it was a blast.

Peace on Earth.

I'm there Whitney and closing week. Staying at https://brentwood-hotel.com/. I have front row aisle seats out front and this table out back all week.

I can heckle Andy Serling from there.
