Late $ changing odds after the race is run
This happens every once in a while. The horse i bet at post is giving me odds of 5/2. Race goes off horse is still shown at the same odds. 1 minute after the race is finished running. Odds go from 5/2 - 6/5. This example was just from Race 4 Evangeline from tonights card. Horse # .

I can understand why some users on here say that wagering should be completed 1 - 2 minutes to post. It sucks seeing that 5/2 go down to 6/5 when you have decent $ on your wager. You from to

The difficult part is seeing the notice go up that wagering is closed and then watch the odds change. Closed for who?

It sure doesn't seem if you hit a winner the price ever goes up.

This wouldn't change anything, you'll still see last cycle odds changes.
Offer a 5% rebate on losses if a bet is made 30 mins before post time to incentivize early wagering to quicken the price discovery process and you'll see changes.

It's not wagered late, it is updated "late". When the bell rings, the track and the multitude of off-track vendors have bets that were accepted after the previous odds update up but before the bell rang. Big last minute bets, especially into small pools, can result in noticeable odds changes.

I noticed this with standardbred racing on 1st or 2nd odds favorites. These horses sometimes get hammered down during the race. This has happened to me plenty of times recently. It seems like one of the two or three favorites gets a bunch of late $. If you are lucky and backed the horse that was hammered late you win.

If you close betting at 2 minutes to post, the guys that are betting big bucks at 15 seconds to post will then be betting big bucks at 2 minutes and 15 seconds to post. The odds will still be changing after it is too late for anyone to bet.
