You mean put something like this in the results file?

WAIKUKU came under pressure after the 600 Metres when the tempo of the race increased. He said WAIKUKU did not respond to his riding approaching and passing the 500 Metres and got its head on the side and lay out away from CHAMPION’S WAY. He said he placed WAIKUKU under heavy pressure in the early part of the Straight but rather than respond to that pressure the horse commenced to give ground and was not able to sprint with CHAMPION’S WAY. He added he continued to ride WAIKUKU along, however, the horse was giving ground noticeably and MORE THAN THIS was able to quicken and pass WAIKUKU easily passing the 300 Metres. He said he continued to ride WAIKUKU out until near the 200 Metres but as the horse was continuing to give ground, he had concerns that all might not be well with the horse and therefore he eased it down over the concluding stages when WAIKUKU was already well beaten. He said whilst WAIKUKU did not feel completely uncomfortable in its action during the race, he was unable to identify any reason for this as the horse returned to the unplaced saddling area free in its action. Mr J Size, the trainer of WAIKUKU, was not able to offer any explanation for the disappointing performance of the horse. He said WAIKUKU had pleased him in all its work since its last start success and he anticipated another forward showing today. A veterinary inspection of WAIKUKU immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. The performance of WAIKUKU, favourite for today’s race and a last start winner which finished at the rear of the field, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, WAIKUKU will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Of course knowing Equibase they probably will charge 10 bucks a pop for each of these

I agree. It's unfortunate. You can tell what his conclusion and recommendations are going to be from the quotes and they haven't even finished collecting the data at one track yet. Obviously, I don't know the solution. But the problems are often easy to identify. No one wants to think past this year, let alone 10 years into the future.

Wow. I had no idea detailed information like that even existed.

At some of the small fair tracks I play in the summer you are lucky if the races are not hand timed with a stop watch let alone get information like that.

Otherwise you risk cramping up.

Once you step into the ring - the last thing on Earth you want is to start cramping up in the middle of a round.

Imo, that's why boxers rehydrate and stay hydrated after the weigh-in.

Hint: They aren't drinking just water.

.
The difference is that boxers and MMA fighters (where there have been numerous issues with fighters passing out at weigh-ins or even their kidneys shutting down due to dehydration from trying to "cut" from denying fluids before weigh-ins) dehydrate themselves so they can weigh in at a certain weight class. Then they add fluid weight back so they get energy back, feel normal, and can hit harder. Horses taking Lasix aren't doing that. Horses aren't trying to intentionally denying themselves fluids, the fighters are.

If you've never read Beyer's chapter about the Great Barrington Fair in "My $50,000 Year At The Races", you should.

HK stewards are no joke, they just punted a jockey out of the country for showing disrespect during an inquiry hearing last week. And because of how they did it he cant ride elsewhere till the summer. HK proves time and time it again it's the gold standard for the sport.
