I haven’t officially heard that lame excuse. But wait a minute!

Is track management finally emulating a bit of HK racing by experimenting with a “2-day” per week race schedule? And why not?

The Mutual and Exotic pool handles were significantly larger today (Sun 4/18). Sure they’re not HK numbers, but in fact, just the Win pool alone averaged about a ¼ Million dollars per race. What I found a bit surprising though was that the $1 Exacta pools (which are normally nearly as large as the Win pool in each race) were obviously lower by an approx. average of 30% per race.

In any case the players haven’t abandoned SA yet, and have noticeably indicated that support by the increasing in the O.A. handle today!

Turf course has always needed a break since Hollywood Park went away. And yes, horse shortage playing a huge role in less racing days.

Really highlights that tracks have two sets of customers, bettors and horse owners. They’ll run elsewhere when the bettors and public are a huge pain to deal with
