Alternative Morning Lines?
Hi,
Horse racing novice here. I was wondering if there are widely available odds other than the Morning Line put out by the track itself. Is there a site that regularly does this?
Or, is there a site (perhaps offshore) that takes volume earlier than the track and therefore has some market odds (which would again differ from the Morning Line)?
PS: Did anyone else used to hang out at Northlands track in Edmonton, Canada in the 90s? I was usually there in light blue jeans and a red multi-colored jacket. LOL.

Regarding the first part of your question, there are probably public handicappers that publish odds lines distinct from morning line, but this will depend on the handicapper. There are probably products you can buy (equibase, DRF, or brisnet) that have proprietary lines as well.
There are no secondary pools, with the exception of perhaps for the biggest races

yes but they all fall short of anything of quality
for the serious player !!!!
he was looking to do match up betting
and was confused how the bookies would always be one step ahead of
any prorietary lines and advanced lines from
those so called
system sellers

Many years ago I came very close to coming out with a service called The Line, which would have odds lines for many of the top tracks. In order to do a good job, though, I would have had to recruit several other handicappers to help me and I gave it up. When I do my Meadowlands picks, which are supposed to return July 4, I give my personal odds line on my top four contenders.

ABSOLUTELY!
The Hong Kong Jockey Club offers these Type of M/L's for each and every race card. In fact, they offer 2 M/L's: one early and one on race day just hours prior to post time.
In spite of what some of the PA skeptics might say (or think) these lines are the epitome of a Morning Line.

nitro he wasn't inquiring on that
as these second set of ml just hours before are subject to manipulation
within the last 20 minutes before the off
what he was asking was
can i get a sneek peak of the toteboard way before the off so
i can make match up bets more effeciently
and the way you are describing it is not the way
as some of the top bookies have professionals writing lines for them all the time

keep in mind your results will be only as good as the guy making the line you're using

You just have to get good at predicting the live odds yourself.

How do you know? Why not just let him respond if he has a question or comment?
Believe me your continued commentary on the M/L is NOT the "ends all" when it comes to actually playing this game.
