Unusual Payouts,Hollywood
July 16th,Thursday at Hollywood.
Race 1-3 $1 pick3 payout=$22.60
Race 2-4 $1 pick 3 payout= $63.00
Race 1-4 $1 pick4 payout=$49.30
When last ,for whatever reason, have you seen a pick 4 pay less than a pick3 in the same sequence of races?

This can happen, and I can relate. A couple years back, I had the Pick 4 at Los Al and it paid $2,426. Nice, right? Well, the friggin' Pick 3 paid $8,913.

I have seen it happen on several occasions on pick3s and pick4s. I once hit a P3 that paid around $300.00 & the DD payout was a little over $500.00. Of course I didn't play the DD.

I've seen that happen before. Usually when a heavy chalk wins the first leg. Players may lay off the exact horses they used in the next pick 3 because they are live in the Win 4.
I just did the math, and the parlay for the Pick 4 was a little higher than the payoff. It should have paid at least $50.40. Probably means that some players had big tickets on it, and they probably passed the second race Pick 3 because of that.

How is this for a guess?
The Owner of the winner of the first race(All Set-Trainer Melody Conlon-Owner John Liviakis) Liviakis is thought to be a very large bettor on his own horses in particular drove the odds to crumbs on "All Set"@$3.40 Win.
He also decided to play the pick 4 single on his horse. Rumor has it that $10,000 is lunch money to him. he did not bother to play the pick 3 starting with the 2nd race.
Unusual, yes but watch the action on his horses to see if the owner is there .
In this case the tote told the story

Right on the money (no pun intended) rwwupl! Most people that get the pick 4 started in the 1st race don't start a pick 3 in the second. Because of that you get unusual payoffs. Liviakis is a very large player!
Melody Conlon had a hard time winning a race before Liviakis came along. Maybe he's doing most of the training????
