For the children of course- at least bring in an empty water bottle you can fill at the fountain and if so inclined some powdered mix. Doesn’t help the parents of course, but if there’s a will there’s a way!

I guess I'll have to keep my thermos full of frozen Margs in the car....a first.

Wouldn't it be safer to let people bring their own food instead of buying it handled by others?

I think it's all about the money, they make a lot on those $5 bottles of water.

Explained reason is costs/resources. They do have a lot of "Alcohol Control" people who are there to monitor for underage drinking. With concessions only, the underage drinking is much less of an issue and burden shifts to concession people. The alcohol resources are being diverted to "COVID-19 Compliance Control".

I'm sure there is $ involved, but IMO the real reason is to prevent freeloaders with no intent on wagering from taking up space in the picnic area for free. Anyone who has been to the Monmouth Park picnic area sees this every weekend, when you have to pay admission, never mind when it's free. They take up space and produce zero revenue- not even a $2 bet. I'm not a fan of free admission for this very reason (among others) so, while appreciate the cynicism I think it is a good decision.

I'm bringing an empty water bottle Saturday so I can get water from the fountains. Let's see what they say

People keep saying how they want tracks to stay open, but don't want to spend any money when they're there.

Makes no sense.

There is overhead. Even toilet paper in the bathrooms, etc.

I always buy food at the track. It’s overpriced, big deal.

They made admission and parking free. Everyone wants free everything. Monmouth is there to make a buck too.

Just take the 10 bucks for parking and admission and spend it on food instead.

I'm already on record saying I'm not going to Saratoga for the first time in many years whether they let fans in or not. But the thought of going to Monmouth for a day to get Max's dogs and some beer is not entirely out of the question. It might be a risk, but imo it's probably a good value. I love those dogs at any price.

Plenty of room Class come on down! Get some chowder while you’re at it. Not as great as it used to be and portion is a little smaller, but still real good.

I'm a huge chowder fan too.

They did the same thing at the NYRA tracks. I'm not sure who runs the food court etc.. but they reduced the portion.

Doesnt seem that the plan keeps the health and safety of the customers as the number one priority.

As a senior, I wouldn't mind paying a $50 entrance fee if I could bring my own cooler and sit at a picnic table betting with my smartphone while watching the races.

As a senior, I won't mind bringing my cooler into my computer room and watching FOX SPORTS. Might even bring in my George Foreman grill and some hot dogs!

ALWAYS got a bowl of the red chowder and added hot sauce - some days it was the best part of my trip! I already have a dozen cans of Progresso Chowder and chopped clams to add in for the season.

Now, all I need is a few gallons of sulfer water........

Ok so maybe there isn’t plenty of room. Attendance capped at 2,000.
