AZ may be back in the game soon

Here's the actual bill that was passed. Source market fees and deals with the in-state tracks required.

Very good. If this flies, and it appears that is should, Arizona will be up to date with the rest of the nation. No indication yet that Brewer will not sign the bill.

On a personal note, Arizona has long been considered for relocation. This moves it up another notch. From what I have been able to gather, most of the AZ otb sites are rather primative, with betting in the bars, restaurants, and bowling alleys an afterthought to the main business. ADW would sure help.

You are correct on your assessment of AZ and OTB's. Usually its just a small area shoved in the back corner, or tv's haphazardly around, and typically dive bars. Some aren't horrible mind you, and honestly the food choices are better at the OTB than at Turf Paradise.

I do love living here though, about 15 mins from Turf, great weather, cheap cost of living, and a quick drive to Cali to escape the heat in the summer. Great reason to hang out at Del Mar and beat the heat.

Just an update as I was hoping it would be in effect 90 days after the bill signing. It 'becomes law' 90 days after signing. From the Turf Paradise GM:

'Our goal is to have Turf Paradise Phone Bet operational by opening day, October 18.'

Won't be ready by opening Day 10/18/14 according to GM. 'Slight delay...'

Not sure what the delay could be - it's not like they're the first state to allow such. Law passed in May, took effect in Aug and 'rules were approved with ADW on Oct 9th'.
