Sam Houston's Fate

With Sam Houston Park beginning its summer meet on June 26, dare I ask is it under the hooks of the THG boycott of ADWs? I know the Lone Start thoroughbred meet and the Retama meet were cutoff, but please tell me Sam Houston won't be tainted. And BTW, any progress on the negotiations with Lone Star, Churchill, etc.?

Does the thoroughbred group have control over quarter horses too?

The recent Retama meet is QH. So don't be surprised if HOU falls under this too...

The idiots in Texas never knew what they had. NO promotion. It serves them right for waiting so long that they were encircled by tracks in Arkansas, Mexico, New Mexico, and Louisiana.

The sad thing about all this is, if the Sam Houston signal is cutoff, then I don't expect any of these ADWs on the periphery to pick them up. Not really that much interest in QHs outside of Cal and the Southwest. Here's hoping they come to an agreement soon.

How about Premier Turf Club? Any news on whether it will carry the Sam Houston quarterhorse meet?

Apparently, Youbet is scheduled to carry Sam Houston for now. Nothing on BetPad.

Should have expected this:
From aqharacing.com:
The Texas Horsemen’s Partnership has rescinded its approval for Sam Houston Race Park to send its simulcast signal to advance deposit wagering outlets, including TVG, YouBet, TwinSpires and ExpressBet.

I think it's time for the players to send the horsemen a message. Let them know that we are fed up with their antics. I can (and will) play offshore.

I realize it's their QH meet. But it still pisses me off. What happens when it's time to run TBs at HOU again? Will any of us be able to bet the meet without going offshore?

A few days back Dean Couto of the TOC swayed horse owners in CA to pretty much give the THG carte blanche to decide whether or not TB signals in CA will be going out to ADWs. I wouldn't be surprised to see the "experiment" voted to an end. If that happens major CA TB signals such as DMR and Oak Tree will be treated just like Churchill Downs, Lone Star, and Calder. The horsemen seem to think locking up signals is an acceptable strategy in continuing their pissing contest with the tracks.

As a player I for one do not think locking up signals is an acceptable strategy.

I can (and will) bet offshore. And it's not like there's any incentive for players like me to stop betting offshore and open up YouBet accounts once the horsemen and the tracks reach an agreement over ADW signal percentages.

Don't the horsemen realize the only thing they are really accomplishing in the long run is an alienated customer base?

They are either too stupid to realize it or they simply don't care. Either way, who takes it on the chin?

The customer.

And that really pisses me off.

Terrible news on Sam Houston. What's going on with the whole horsemen-ADW dispute? Must be a bitter impasse, because I haven't heard or read of the parties gathering at the bargaining table. My favorite QH meet, too.

The horsemen have a belief and a strategy.

Months ago they stated it was their intention to eliminate all ADWs. They believe that if there were no ADWs the on track handle will go up.

They know they are being unreasonable and they no intention of negotiating in good faith. Their intention is to drive ADW's out of business.

A classic example of winning the battle and losing the war.

Is just the Sam Houston summer meet quarterhorses, and the meet that starts in the fall is throughbreds correct?
