I watched this last night on netflix. He was aNavy veteran who saw action on dday. My heart went out to him when they were saying he removed bodies from the ocean.

Great family man as well. So much i didn't know about him.

My uncle took me to old Yankee Stadium on a summer trip to NYC. Got to the see the greats: Mantle, Richardson, Moose Skowron and of course YOGI. What a thrill for a youngster.

His playing days were over a year before I started watching baseball at 5. I just remember him as a manager, which looking him up he did for less years as I thought. Probably managing in NY brings fame and recognition other areas do not get.

Maybe the best catcher ever. Great manager and coach, also.
Loved watching him in the Astrodome hitting fly balls during batting practice before the games. He'd hit them to the warning track with such ease.

Watched it a couple of weeks ago and really enjoyed it. He was never given the credit that he deserved. He was one of the greats.
