Finger Lakes 2020
As far as I can tell, there's been little to no information coming from FL regarding a re-opening.. this despite the fact that the Finger Lakes region of NYS is set to partially re-open in just a few days.
There hasn't even been any training allowed at the facility, so it's not like there's a colony of horses that have been training for months and are ready to go. The best we can hope for at this point is that the partial re-opening of the FL region will allow the beginning of training, and hopefully actual racing to follow on the usual track opening schedule..
The FL HBPA did say a couple weeks ago they were hopeful the track could still run a 90 day meet - I assume they're basing that conservative estimate on the distinct possibility that the track won't open at all until the gaming facility is also given the go-ahead, which certainly won't be anytime in the near future..

On Steve Byk today, 2nd hour - FL is expecting to open the backstretch June 1 and plan to resume racing, without fans, 1st week of July....if all goes as planned.
FL region one of 3 cleared for early re-opening by Coumo This week. Finger Lakes region, Southern Tier, and Mohawk Valley.
Central NY and the North Country are close - 1 more step to meet.
This bodes well for Saratoga to race without fans as well - much more likely now than two weeks ago.
Also good news. FL has set up its own stimulus plan for the horseman - $25/$100 for each start in 2019.

Me too.
I will drive out and park at the top of the stretch and watch from my car, with my cooler in tow, of course!

I liked Finger Lakes when I went a couple of years ago. I had a good day betting also. I wish I could join you.

That’s where I don’t think this whole deal is analyzed right. I think racing there is fine. They could even let people in. Not the casino touching machines but horse players betting off their phones/laptops only. As usual there are two extremes but if people were reasonable things could be segmented. Obviously, opening in NYC is different than opening out there . That’s why this crap has to be traced. Once , you go out of the Metropolitan area of NY it’s here but no where near as bad.

So True, I would say the last few years I have been there I have barely seen any employees on the stand side. Although I still enjoy going there.

Jeremiah Englehart said yesterday in his Mike Lee post-race interview that Finger Lakes has cancelled all stakes races for their upcoming meet, with the exception of their late season 2-year old stakes..
