The judge in this ruling must be a huge pro-Second Amendment advocate.

That is a long standing legal principle. It works both ways, preventing legal suits against cops who try to protect people and don't succeed.

... or holding a single cop responsible for not charging in before there are adequate reinforcements.

So then...it would appear that even a much older principle called self-preservation would give everyone the natural right to protect themselves, since there is zero guarantee that those who get paid to "protect and serve" will step up to the plate.

Therein lies the rub.

There are laws against “neglect of duty” and every state has different ones. The military has very strict and broad ones.

The use of different tactics to approach different situations were not considered when these laws were written. In fact, the reason these laws are vague is purposeful. So they could be interpreted in many different ways. From sleeping on the job to forgetting your rifle.

I cannot fathom standing by, and in fact hiding, while those kids were getting killed. But that’s just me. I’m sure these kids and their parents expected a response. But the officers defense will always be he was outgunned, etc. then rely on the nonduty to perform ruling

He’s a despicable person/officer
