The two G1 sprints this weekend are a good example. Clearly Jackie's Warrior is head and shoulders above anything in either race. He is the quality. But betting wise, the Bing Crosby is a way better race for bettors than the Vanderbilt.

Another positive is Dmr only has one turf course, so they play switcheroo with what surface a race is going to be on, like the 10th today at Toga, thevHoke Poke Stakes.
Mellon, no wat, inner, on wait, we're an hour into the caed, back to the Mellon.
WTF?

Was there ever an explanation for why they kept switching?

I didn't even hear they switched back until late in the day.
Making changes like that after the card is in progress is bad practice in my book.
Toga turf off my bettingl list from now on.

I know they put incentives in place to attract more trainers and horses. I’m not sure if what they are doing is economically sustainable, but it’s having the desired effect. The racing has been very good. The stakes have been like a flashback to better times. Not only are they actually playable, they are competitive enough to have multiple value oriented opinions inside the same race and go for a bigger score.

I am not having much luck at the windows at DelMar but l will fire away again today. 11 races on deck with 12+ entries in 8 of the carded races including 12 scheduled to run before scratches in the stake.

It has been a good meet for me so far and I am really enjoying it. 5 turf races out of 11 suits me fine. I hope the course holds up.

I'm with you, Gary.
Bet seriously there for the first time after watching the first few days.
I am staying there from now on. Much better product for wagering.
They actually run in their turf routes.

watching Americas Day At The Races and heard Paul Lo Duca rip Chad Brown a new one. It makes Paul fair game, as his slurred speech and stammering make him a hard listen. I enjoy the show otherwise.

Are you referring to that "take it with some pride" comment?

Yes. He kept harping on it. Came back after commercial and had nothing but praise for Chad Brown. Wonder if the producers or co hosts read him the riot act during the break.

I like the number of turf races, but there have been too many at 5 furlongs. Today 3 out of 4 are at 5f.

If I hear one more baseball analogy, I'm going to barf,.
When he's on air, I go to TVG and play other tracks.

I'm in the Del Mar camp this year for sure. I think I'd only played about 10 races across three cards in southern California all year prior to Del Mar. The racing has been excellent, and I seem to have a knack of wheeling in a couple of nice-priced horses on most cards.
To be fair, the field size is a little misleading, as there's been plenty of scratches of the outside post AEs, but with the nicer weather, it's easier to plan for track condition.
The boutique meets of Saratoga, Keeneland and Del Mar are all great to play, but at Saratoga especially I find myself having to to tread lightly. It's tough to keep the underlaid chalks off the board, as you have some of the world's best connections behind them. Then when you do find a more chaotic race, you have 5 or 6 other value horses that can win besides the horse that gets bet. Same with Keeneland.
I am a little bummed about Ellis though this summer. I usually do okay there, but this summer has been tough. The higher profile connections moved in there a number of years ago when slot revenue began fueling the purses, and it's tougher now than the old days.

Del Mar for sure has a much better racing product especially the quality of horses....quantity this meet so far as well. The ship and win program works very well for them. The jockey colony at Del Mar IMO is actually better because they have a deeper bench so to speak. Toga’ usually shares the wins amongst 6 jocks and the rest clean up the scraps here and there. I do like the team of track handicappers and racing analysts at Toga’ especially Maggie Wolfendale and Andy Serling. That’s right I said AS. I like them all but these two stand out considerably. The amount of insight these two provide is golden and not many are within reach at Del Mar. The other thing that Saratoga has is an enormous amount of character something that Del Mar is lacking. Don’t get me wrong Del Mar is a beautiful piece of property but it lacks the relaxed feeling one would get at Toga’. Gulfstream Park is my favorite track for other reasons but Saratoga is by far my second favorite. I love Saratoga.

Ank any fan and anyone in the Thoroughbred industry...On this continent Saratoga is THE preeminent race meeting of the year.
Owners ship in from all over the country with one goal in mind...A winners circle photo with their horse.
Saratoga gets the best trainers and best riders. Riders from other circuits will move their tack every summer to ride in Upstate NY.
I'm not blowing sunshine at you. There are a few horsemen who post here. Ask them. BTW, Del Mar today(8/6) number of starters per race. 9.2 Pretty good.
