I enjoy reading about athletes, and especially comebacks. I came out of the Endurance Sports field myself, having competed extensively in many IronMan Triahtlons and numerous long distance Cycling, Swimming, and Marathon races. Most of us in those disciplines do not come back once we retire. We move on to other things, and some of us become Race Directors producing the venues that we once raced in.
Those that do attempt full comebacks find themselves and their bodies most unwilling to rekindle the physical prowess that was once possessed in our youth. I still compete, but no where near the level I used to. I am much happier producing than participating these days.
