Huge Industry Change Given Green Light

On Monday the 11th of January we will witness the first step for racinos to effectively eliminate the cost of racing without needing state approval. Portland Meadows is set to run 6 races of full 12 horse fields. All of the 72 horses are owned/leased by the track. Horses are only eligible to compete in these races per invitation. Basically shutting out any horse not owned by the track.

Somewhat similar to the HKJC model. But with this model employed at US tracks it will allow the tracks to conduct the necessary races required to maintain, the casinos, card rooms etc. at a minimal expense. The ultimate goal of having a handful of trainers as salaried track employees, as would a minimum number of required jockeys. Claiming races would go the way of the dinosaurs and all horses would be owned or leased by the track.

Aren't these a bunch of 2 furlong sprints? Just a joke of a race card to keep all the other forms of gaming greased and rolling.
