Friend got mad at me when I politely asked for long ago borrowed money back.
I loaned my Friend $80 months ago when she was really struggling financially(Coronavirus hadn't even existed yet when I loaned her this money). I used to get substantial free play from my Local Casinos, so when she didn't pay me back on time, I brushed it off since I got free play/Cash value from my Casinos anyway and didn't actually need the money then. After the Casinos were suddenly shutdown due to the Coronavirus Shutdowns, I knew I could no longer rely on my free play/Cash value money for a while. I politely asked her for SOME of the loaned money back and she got mad and yelled at me! O.O I was upset but politely mentioned I let her slip without paying me back for MONTHS and only asked for some of the loaned money back. She was furious. She soon calmed down and admitted she was completely out of line for blowing up at me when I politely asked for some of the loaned money back and apologized. I was upset that she blew up on me but chalked this up to a regretful incident on her part that she soon apologized for.

If your friend was struggling financially even BEFORE the virus...could she be struggling even more now? Do you know anything about your friend's CURRENT finances? $80 seems like a paltry amount...but you never know.

I only borrow from banks.
I only lend money to family and good friends and I never expect to get paid back or ask for repayment.
The few that pay me back, I lend money to again.
The ones that don't pay me back do not get another loan when asked for one.
I just tell them that instead of ever lending them money again that I will just forgive the last loan.
This has worked very well and I have never lost a friend over money.

She's a good Friend and I consider her anger and yelling at me a momentary quick lapse in good judgement and she did soon calm down and apologize. She admitted I was more than fair in the time of the loan and she admitted that had she been the person giving out the loan she would have been behind the person to give back the loan the day it was due and she admitted she admired how extremely patient I have been.

We know nothing about the interactions that you had with her over the last several months.
So without that information, I would wonder why you even asked her for a measly sum of $80 bucks back after so many months?
You're coming across like a cheap piker.
Chalk it up to experience.
Never mention it again...unless she asks to borrow more $.

I've helped out a few relatives and friends over the years. I learned the hard way, don't loan friends and relatives money...just give it to them.
Not only are they offended you're asking to be repaid, they resent you for having more than them and that you have the nerve to ask for anything back.
So do yourself a favor, unless its 20 bucks or less, either say no or just give it to them. Chances are slim you'll ever see any of it again anyway.

I only asked her for some if the loaned money back when The Casinos were unexpectedly closed down and I no longer got free play/cash value. Had the Casinos not shut down and I was still getting free play/cash value I wouldn't have asked her for any money back.

My Father told me as a youngster, 'never loan anybody anything you are not willing to lose'. It has always stuck with me.

I've always believed in the $20 rule. I'd lend someone I know $20. If I got it back, great. If not it's worth $20 to not have to deal with him again.

When I lend money out to relatives or friends...I never expect to get my money back. And I never do.

yup, agree 100%
I do not like lending money to either, I feel like its most likely going to lead to hard feelings, even if going in I know its a donation.
