Did you see it? Did you see the eclipse?

Hope you wore protective glasses! A lot of people didn;t.

Welp, with the cloud cover, couldn't really see it, but it was really cool!
It was like dusk for a few minutes, then, in seconds, pitch black out! Like switching off a light. Rochester was party city - streets very little traffic, Frontier Park full, people dancing, Skycoasters playing all afternoon, like Woodstock.

After a few minutes of total darkness, the light started at and the speakers started playing....

Nigra Falls sets a Guiness World Record for most people at one location, dressed as the SUN!

What can we expect next?

Only overhead is the shadow deep enough. Similar in many respects to a very dark thunderhead on top of you but light on the horizon.

It's neat to see but the darkness was the least impressive thing. Very underwhelming from that standpoint. I doubt birds and animals could tell the difference between a stormcloud and an eclipse. One zoo says they are preparing the animals for the eclipse. Those people need medication.
After watching the various videos on Fox today, I totally disagree with you.
Perhaps you were indeed under a "storm-cloud".

I didn't see no stinking eclipse, it was overcast but you could till tell where the sun was. I am working about 6 feet from a window and was walking back and forth from the shop to house often. Must have been man made climate change holes in the ozone layer blocking it here. Winter was pretty mild, just a couple inches snow here and there single digit temps never happened, the thing is spring only showed up for a couple days so far. Still getting down in the 30's at night. I am ready to wear shorts all day.

Not cool, 3 kids in the house had Annie and freaking Peewee Herman on VCR and watched them every good damn day it seem like a year straight in 1986. I cannot believe I did not shoot myself or the TV.

I woke up this morning in a panic. You see I forgot to prepare for the emergency.

Fortunately the electricity stayed on. I was able to run coffee beans through the grinder and make a pot of coffee.

Somehow the gas was on too and there was still enough food on hand to make breakfast.

To my amazement the internet still worked and I was even able to download data from the HDW site and play a few races.

But a few hours ago I started panicking all over again.

The sky started turning dark gray and there wasn't a cloud anywhere in sight.

But I decided to risk it and went outside anyway.

About 20 minutes later the sky started turning blue again.

Wow. That was really effing scary.

In all seriousness though:

We do have migratory parrots in my neck of the woods this time of year.

There's a flock that likes to nest overnight in a nearby group of trees overhanging the sidewalk in front of my place.

But you never see them there when it's light.

On the way back, I heard one squawking down at me as I walked that part of the sidewalk. When I looked up I saw one almost within arm's reach.

I took a picture because you can never get close enough to get a good shot.

I know how scary this was for everyone, and I hope you made it through the emergency unscathed.

Several people at eclipse locations called it like "dusk" and near "sunset". Did I not describe it that way? I said "twilight". You're welcome.

I also saw at several locations that it was lit on the horizon, just like I said. You're welcome.

No animals had issues, just like I said. You're welcome.

Listen, it was cool to watch, but it's just a few minutes of "ahs" and "oohs". No more or less. Five minutes after an eclipse, it's a distant memory.

As well as Donald Trump fighting every indictment thrown at him.

Because they do not want him to win! The January 6 protesters were thrown in jail for a little bit of an uprising. And the BLM rioters Beat Police and innocent people, destroyed businesses by looting and burn down cities, and got no jail time whatsoever! The were basically allowed in in some area’s that day.

If you seen the video and documentary they were basically allowed in by DC police and Capital police to the Capital building. Trump requested 10,000 National Guard a few days earlier, before his speech Nancy Pelosi denied it. Total setup, because 99% of Trump supporters are patriots, hard workers and peaceful, would never do that. There were some influencers mixed in the crowd and antagonizing people.

There were also FBI and antifa mixed in the crowd as well. Once inside the Capital, they were very peaceful. They were walked around by capital police and still remain peaceful . And also,China and Mexico do not want Trump. They are making way too much money with him being out of the Office. We are totally screwed with that open border, over 50,000 military aged Chinese have crossed the border in the last four months. They are here for a reason.

China wants to take Taiwan and they will not be able to do that with Trump in office! I agree that there’s something gonna happen to stop this election whether it’s bird flu or terrorist attacks by Chinese or others, Yes, it’s inevitable! This is the most important election of our lifetime for conservative Republicans non-conservatives. If they lose this election to the Democrats, we will become a socialist, Marxist country! No doubt in my mind,we are going in that direction now! America would be finished! You can see it! There’s no control in the open border right now and it’s costing us billions of taxpayer dollars! All of us are paying for these freeloaders that keep coming to this country! If you want to here,do it the the legal way!

There is nothing good that Joe Biden has done in 3 1/2 years. Every policy is a disaster. He reversed everything Trump did. We have two wars going on, it’s costing us billions in tax payer dollars! Inflation is through the roof because we are not energy independent! The open border is killing us! The New Green deal is a disaster! Electric vehicles will take 30 years to put everything in place for this to work, because no one can handle the electric that needs to keep these vehicles running smooth for a car nobody wants! God bless the USA!

We only had 90% coverage where I am, and it was surprisingly still quite a bit of light outside...basically the same as a cloudy day, with streaks of sunlight still hitting certain spots.

However, when I looked up with the ol' eclipse glasses on, it did indeed look like an eclipse and there was a sliver of sun still sticking out on the left side...looking a bit like half the size of a crescent moon in terms of the amount of sun that could still be seen...I am still shocked at how covered the sun was, yet still how much daylight there was outside...all in all a cool experience.

Here, it was twilight, the in seconds, total blackout. Darker than most nights.
Polar Bears in Rochester zoo were antsy for hours before, then, ran back inti thier dens when titalliy hit. When the sun came back, they re-emerged and rolled around like cubs. Many dogs left outdoors without a light on barked at the sky.

Some were more affected than others...

Downside.

Many, many Biden supporters now think since the sun return to view that it is now Tuesday. A local transgender thinks the sun up there now is actually the moon.

I was ready! I dragged the old washtub onto the balcony. Then I banged on it with a baseball bat and a hammer, to scare away the demon that was trying to eat the sun. I’m happy to say I was successful and the world is safe!
