Not in this case.
I was getting reports 6-8 weeks ago from the backstretch that some trainers/owners were having a tougher time making ends meet and quite a few didn't want to go because of the added expenses, no fans, worker preferences and some risk factors. So what looked like an opinion was information that was not reported until some of them were quoted in DRF last week.
No one in their right mind would argue some of my other points about race quality differences impacting handle at different tracks.
It's over.
It was a tough decision. They are trying to support the local community and maximize their own revenue. I hope they do well even though they made some owners and trainers unhappy.

Saying you are an expert on the internet doesn't make you one. Saying it over and over again, in thousands of words, doesn't make you one either.

Andy, what happened to quinella wagering at NYRA today? Is it gone forever, or just today?

If you do it without fans and most of the horseman and backstretch workers remain on track, the risk is mitigated. But then you have to ask what is the point of shipping equipment, people, and horses to Saratoga and adding all that expense just for almost everyone to stay on track at Saratoga?
I'm not sure I buy the "brand" argument as enough to offset the incremental expense and risk as we've debated previously. IMO, the Travers, Alabama etc.. would handle just as much if run at Belmont instead. The better argument was probably that the turf course at Belmont can't handle an extended meet, but if they wind up running an abbreviated schedule at Belmont, maybe that won't even be a factor.

We can forget about the "risks," since these are no greater than what they would have had at Belmont, it turns out. And don't they have these same "incremental expenses" every year? In fact, aren't these expenses actually cheaper this year since it must be easier to find accommodations?

I never said I was an expert on anything.
I never said a bad word about you.
I have views and try to make my case with data when I have it.
You're the one that keeps jumping in insulting me and throwing digs. I have no desire to have any conversation with you about racing at all. Believe me. But I'm not going to let you insult me or mischaracterize what I've said to diminish my view.
I'm trying to be a positive contributor to the conversations here.
Please exercise your power to put me on ignore. I'll post less if you don't respond to me, but if you insult me you'll always get a response and it will probably be long.

Clement is killing it. Rodriguez not going bad either. And of course, Chad Brown.

yea, whenever you mess with signs, or put paint markings on the ground that are not typical it can be dangerous. I am waiting for one of these cities who painted goofy stuff on the roads to get sued after an accident.

Saw that Saratoga did almost $1.5 million in handle today (Friday), that's damn impressive considering no fans were there!
