A few tracks seem to be struggling with lack of entries. Mountaineer and Finger Lakes have small fields and both have cancelled cards and/or races completely due to lack of entries.

Any theories what is going on?

It is odd to me as Turf Paradise seemed to have bigger fields than usual.

At lease one stable racing at Turf shipped to mountaineer. Maybe Finger Lakes will get some stock up from Tampa, but not likely much. Also when the better stock ships into NYRA the second string NYRA horses will become more prominent.

Eh? If you mean Covid then something else has changed since last fall when both tracks were running with fuller complements of entries. Or is there something else very obvious that I am missing?

Old but still accurate. From 2019

This will actually be the reason contraction occurs. Contraction is long overdue
