How many furlongs are there in a 9 furlong race?
Just making fun of the regression to kindergarten on the board.

The stewards have conducted a formal film review of the lightbulb change that occurred on Saturday 10/8/2023. No action will be taken.

How long is the runup?
On or off the turf?
If on, are the temp rails and the gate in the right place?
How many pancakes does it take to cover a doghouse?

I remember a story about a guy in front of the stands just behind the fence who always started running with the horses towards the finish line when the horses hit the stretch
the story goes:
most of the time he beat his horse to the wire________________(-:\

When I was a kid we lived on a single lane street that had a line of traffic during the afternoon rush. A drunk who lived in the neighborhood, once or twice a week would walk down the middle of the street behind a shopping cart with a line of cars behind him giving him hell. Lol this would go on for 10 minutes or so until the police came got him. I like him for the first 8 furlongs.

You had me scared when you asked how many furlongs were in a nine furlong race, but relieved when you pointed out you were being sarcastic. LMAO! Reminds me of someone who was so stunned by a photographer's beauty, they stupidly asked,"How long does a one hour photo take to process?" The Photographer understandably thought the person was an idiot. Not an idiot, just stunned by beauty.

The word originally denoted the length of a furrow in a common field (formally regarded as a square of ten acres)

I hate it when the Referees call a penalty on my horse after he'd already won the race. The last time it happened he was +1200.

They should add some kind of Insurance bet where the Horse Racing Bettor still gets paid the regular payout if the Referee pulls that kind of Penalty stunt /disqualification after the horse already won. Like say, after the horse won the bet, it was determined that the horse was on steroids. Maybe the Insurance bet can be an extra $5. I would pay an extra $5 to ensure that I still get paid the regular payout no matter what happens after the race.
