I do wonder if the tips are pooled or not. They are in the casino but I doubt the mutuel tellers are? I imagine at the end of shift you balance the drawer and keep the remainder as tips?

This will be a fun experiment if I decide to do this during this coming season, and will be sure to report back.

Sending my application in now...

An old friend happens to clerk at mnr simulcast. She has fast hands, never screws up, and punches furiously when I'm buried in line.

That rates 2 or 3 bux , depending on how the denominations fall, several times per day. And that goes to $5 on a race I profit more than $300 from.

I cash only with her. That's an unspoken part of our pact.

I agree Mark. Renee's the best in the business!

Hey, dude, hope all is well. Knew Renee when she was a spaghetti-wide 7th grader. Played lots of hoops with her brother.

Casino, forget it. They are rolling in money. The casinos have the ability to pay a good wage.
I found out that in most casinos, doesn't matter where, dealers are typically paid minimum wage or just above. A couple dealers spoke to while on their break or off duty told the same story. Tipping in casinos is a way of life. So the casino operator was depending upon the players to compensate the dealers. And....The dealers I spoke to were good with the system.
I asked one how they would react if the hourly wage were raised to $15 or $20 per hour but with the caveat players would be notified that tipping would no longer be permitted or discouraged.
Flat out, the guy said he'd quit on the spot and find another job.
Really? Yeah, he said he would LOSE income...

Turns out she was dating a mucky muck in GGF management. Next week I was main line next to the bathrooms that never really drained well in those golden days at GGF.
OOPS....Lesson learned, huh?

My buddy does that while playing craps. He will announce something like " five dollar hardways for the dealers"...
If he hits, they get to keep the winnings.

You can count on one hand the number of times I've played casino games in my life, so they aren't missing out on much from me.

It’s like any other job. The people with seniority and know what they’re doing work the 50 min windows. You don’t just step up and get those. Same with the IRS windows depending on what state you’re in. Many are are one and the same. The good ones actually get shipped to big days like Derby week and the Belmont. So if you think you’ll get hired tomorrow and serve the big bettors the next day . Probably won’t happen. I know a few guys that did it . One guy was at the derby , same hotel as me. A big bettor hit on Oaks day and gave him a ticket, 100 to win on Giaccomo for Saturday. It was the best weekend he ever had to say the least. That’s what some of them do. They’ll give you a free ticket on something they like, but most will give cash. I know another guy that was doing “favors” for wise guys in NY. He would push dirty money thru his window for 10 percent until the Feds caught on. Both of these things were years ago so I don’t know what goes on now because of the internet. If you bet out of control and have no discipline it’s not a good job. There was another guy that ended up like 29k short by the time they caught on up here. Needless to say , hot water for him also. It’s like any career you gotta be around for a while to get anywhere. I always tip when I hit a good one. I like Black Jack too and I always throw the dealer a few chips win or lose. Good Karma always comes back. Just something I believe in. You gotta put in to get out….. like anything in life.

I like to play black jack. I also like to bet on sports.
Mostly PGA Golf and NASCAR....Sports wagering on line may become a reality here in NC.
I read an article regarding this...Made it all the way to the last paragraph....Bad news. Betting on horse racing isn't included.

That's ok. We are planning to relocate to Kentucky. Keeneland will be no more than 30 minutes away from our new home.
