Based on previous statements, this would make sense. Per the September 2022 press released from NYRA : "The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) today announced that John Imbriale will retire as NYRA’s full-time track announcer at the end of 2022. Although he will step away from the microphone at Saratoga Race Course and Aqueduct Racetrack, Imbriale will continue to serve as primary track announcer at Belmont Park in 2023 and beyond."

If John decided to not call the Spring races at Aqueduct (with the Belmont reconstruction), it would make sense that Chris's winter tenure would be extended and therefore conflict with Monmouth's season.

Interesting side note here to the Belmont at Saratoga meeting at the start of June are the 2024 SoCal dates : Santa Anita will have a winter spring meeting from December 26th, 2023 to June 16th, 2024. Would 1st/Racing release Frank from his perch to call in Saratoga?

Track announcer John Imbriale has announced that he will retire following a 44-year career with the New York Racing Association.

In 2023, Imbriale transitioned from full time to seasonal duties as the primary announcer at Belmont Park and the Belmont at the Big A fall meet. Imbriale handed the Saratoga baton to Frank Mirahmadi, who called his first Saratoga meet in 2023 and will return in 2024.

Chris Griffin, who joined NYRA in 2023 and served as the track announcer for the winter and spring meets at Aqueduct, will expand his role and handle all race calling duties at Aqueduct.

Dinerman was a nice upgrade over the last guy at OP, without the social media distractions. Good to see him getting another nice gig.

Is there something personal going on with you and Vic, you are always taking pot shots at him?

while everyone is busy playing Saratoga and Del Mar, i am going to be with Tony @ Ellis Park. Tony gives a great description of the race, like letting you know that a horse in the back of the field is being covered up by another one. it might help with your handicapping at some future point.

i am still going to play Saratoga, the camera man does a tremendous job there focusing in on the horses on the track prior to the race. you really can't beat that anywhere and you have a great view right in your living room.
