Rules Update
After posting the polls, and some thought, here is what I am proposing.
1. Bankroll - $200 a day
2. Eligible plays - Choice of early or late pick 4. one or the other, not both.
3. Play days - Every weekend card, and special Monday holiday cards of the inner track meet
4. No entrance is needed, just post tickets as you wish. Not a big deal if you miss a day or two or ten
5. If the early pick 4 is run, and the late is not, you don't get a makeup
6. Regarding Early scratches, If a horse is on the early scratches from the NYRA website which are posted around 1100AM if I remember correctly, he does NOT go to the post time favorite anymore. Only horses that are considered late scratches do you get the PT favorite.
Anything else that needs to be known, just ask.

Buddha,
Can we play a late Pick 4 if one of our horses scratch out early out of the early Pick 4 (as you suggested you might do last week)?
Many of us have some weird late night hours and aren't around for the scratch list time limit.
Thanks for the clarification,
LB

See what you started Buddha?
What happened to the hard-ass position that you took last year? Remember when I wanted to post in the early P4 in the event the late P4 cancelled? This was after losing a play on an earlier day because the late P4 did cancel and I happened to have a play in that P4. No mercy on the folks who lose a play because part of the card cancelled. No mercy on the folks who put in plays with horses that scratch before the P4 starts....those combinations are history. We voted on it, remember? Rules are rules. The contest has started....and I'm not playing worth a damn....can we start over?

Mudcat: Yes, if there is an early scratch that horse is not counted. I had wanted to do that last year, but didn't mention it til the middle of the year, and didn't want to change it in the middle of the contest. This year, we started with the early scratches not getting a "live" ticket, and the late scratches taking the PT fave, as they would do at the track.
LB: No, you can't play a late one if there is a scratch of a horse in the early one. In theory, you could start to play an early one, decide you like the late one better and change if it is before the post of the start of the early pick four, but I haven't seen anyone do that. I was have joking, and just heading to bed when I had mentioned that in one of my posts, and didn't have any serious intentions of playing a late pick four. It would have just sucked that I singled a horse, and wasn't going to be around to see if the ticket could be live or if for some reason the horse was going to scratch.
RR: You are right. You can only choose one or the other pick four, and that is in the rules. I totally agree with you about the part of the scratches. As I said, I had no serious intentions of playing the late pick four that I mentioned in my post.

I'm going with a $400 cash prize, split three ways:
1st: $240
2nd: $100
3rd: $60

Just a quick clarification , I see MONEY put up an alternate in case of a scratch. Is this OK? I don't remember seeing that any year, since you can't do it on a real ticket. (no offense Money)

I posted the alternate because my picks were made long before the pick4 began & before the early scratches were announced. Obviously if the scratch happens after the 1st leg of the p4, the alt. will be no good. But if it's not OK it's alright with me. Just disregard the alt. I won't do it again.

That's a good example, MONEY, I was just going for the clarification before everything starts.

We have never used alternates before, and I don't anticipate using them this year.
