Probably. They were the only two races at the distance that day and since bother were probably equally bad it really didn't effect the figures much. I'll time them today and give it a look.

I'm tired of fighting the Trakus/GPS timing battle. It appears it is being accepted at many tracks so I'm just rolling with it at this point. You can only Don Quixote for so long.

So I timed race 8 and here is what I found:

Final time: Spot on
1/4: Spot on
1/2: 0.40 too fast
3/4: 0.30 too slow

I don't bother with 7f times.

It's just terrible.

Race 6 only the opening 1/4 showed on the screen, the rest of the fractions did not. I assume the system flagged it as something gone amiss so the others were repressed. They wound up in the system, however.

So, timing it, I get:

Final time: Spot on
1/4: 0.44 too fast
1/2: 0.67 too fast
3/4: close, maybe slightly slow, 0.10 or so.

Thanks for checking, even with your numbers they were still motoring early for those types

The times for Race 6 at Penn on June 1st are all about one full second too fast. I don't know what happened at the start to cause a problem but they are clearly in error. From the half mile pole to the wire (the last half mile) is timed fine.

All of the sprint races at Woodbine last night are much too fast, ranging from around 0.30 to 0.75 seconds per race. The fractions are also in error by similar margins.

No final time given for Penn's 4th yesterday (6-7). I got it in 1:41.47 from video for those interested.

I know what you meant by "from video" but want to make sure you got the final time from your video software. There was no final time on the race replay video or when the race was broadcast live because of a timer malfunction, which was noted in the chart.

Yes, timing from video. I'm surprised more tracks don't do this when there is a problem. It only takes a few minutes and is more accurate than hand timing...and certainly better than nothing.

Video seems to be the State of the Art so far.
And so much cheaper than al the new fangled systems that consistently fail.

Seems to be a no-brainer to install that for SOP timing.

btw, they are flying at FL today.
5TH race went the 1/4 in 19.92!
I heard the sonic boom 7 miles away.

I didn't time it, just rated it off of the horses in the race. Its funny though, I still have to put in a time so I get raw ratings and I actually used 1:45 but that was just a guess. This has happened before at Penn, guess they have no backup at all.

Penn ran two 5f races on the turf yesterday (6-27) and neither have any times listed other than the opening quarter. I timed them from the gate so I could compare the two and make figures. For those interested, I got:

R2: 59.00
R3: 57.25
