Nothing irritates people more than being stuck away from their destination, or away from home. Add to it loss of communication via handheld gadgets, and their entire world would crash and burn.

Sounds legit...and I'm sure our government will be 100% honest and tell us immediately the actual cause of this outage (my bet will be RUSSIA! no matter the actual cause)...if there was an outage at all...LOL
Yeah, it's gotten to that point...I'm that cynical.

IMO Its shocking the stuff works as well as it does. Most of our tech infrastructure for Airlines, Banks, Power, etc.. are all obsolete systems few people understand at all anymore.
Put it this way.. those industries have worse tech than horse racing by far. It may look shiny on the customer facing bits but the backend is a mess never intended to work at these scales.

THIS WAS SEXIST!!!
The Notice to Airmen system, the one that failed after decades of reliable service, was in the middle of a two phase upgrade. Mayor Petedirected it because the term "airmen" is sexist and the system is being redone as "Notice to Air Missions."

Saw a tweet recently that said something like Mayor Pete is so bad at his job that people actually know who the Transportation Secretary is.... a dubious distinction, I'd say.
