Sha Tin - Hong Kong is back!!!!

Three hours to post, and over $6M (U.S.), $51M (HK) money already in the pools. Can't wait. It's been a long wait, almost 7 years since I was able to last wager on Sha Tin.

I'll post a few selections here tonight, though mostly so others can toss 'em out. It will take a while to come back up to speed on the circuit, and hopefully hear that my favored horse "...is lifting!!" near the wire.

One horse has already caught my eye - the horse in the 5th race, with a rather common name of "Dragon". Not "Happy Dragon", "Golden Dragon", "Peaceful Dragon", "Smiling Dragon", "Happy Lucky Dragon", "Dragon Along", "Honorable Dragon", "Red Dragon", "Yellow Dragon", "Green Sad Dragon", .....just "Dragon".

It's a sign....

Well, I supposed I should have started handicapping, like, in December. Plenty of info out there.

What I remember is that you must handicap trip, cover is necessary to win. Very rarely do you see a horse go wire to wire, and only when a speed bias is very pronounced. The rail is usually pretty good, but since they move the paths around, sometimes it can be a bit slower.

The visual inspection in the walking ring is critical. The races and odds tend to be pretty evenly matched. It's very tough to logically select a 20 to 1 shot, but there seems to be a regular supply of 5-10 to 1 shots that stick out.

Amazingly enough, there's sometimes that late "steam" horse that moves the tote even with the huge pools.

I wonder if the Parkview Pirate will be around tonight. He was a great fade.

Like the announcer just mentioned, a momentous day indeed.

Twinspires has them for free. It's a shame you can't wager thru them yet or if all

TVG has PPs as well, but they are pretty limited compared to the data on the HKJC web site.

http://www.hkjc.com/home/english/index.asp

Gonna put a little on the in race 1 each way here, like the turn back and outside post - if the track is tiring, he can get there I believe. He looked pretty good in the walking ring, but so did a few others.

Time to go swimming in the Big Boy pool!

Thx Duncan.

Just looked them over and not much info to go on at all.
International pp's are lacking imo.

FWIW I like the #13 Cosmo One and I will wager a grand total of $0 on this race (because I can't).

In case anyone is curious about the exact track configuration - the B+2 course.

http://www.hkjc.com/english/racingin...ing_course.htm

American tracks should have info like this......

Got lucky in the first race with perfect trip and the chalk having some road trouble inside.

Race 2 - total guess here. The is the chalk, probably mostly due to the leading rider aboard.

Going to take a stab with the - he looked pretty snazzy in the walking ring, and it's his first lifetime start.
