What's Marc Siegelaub Up To These Days?

Him and Brad Thomas were inseparable at Belmont in the '80s.

Their Newsday columns were absolutely the best. Witty (Row, Row, Row, your float) and educational-first I heard of Turn Times and Gallop outs.

I don't know Marc, but Brad is a gem of a person and terrific handicapper. Next time I see Brad I'll ask him.

Thanks for posting this, I've never read it. Fortunately, since it was written, the cards at Saratoga are much better. I worked with Brad at Sports Eye for several years and also had a working relationship with him for a few years after I went into business. I learned a lot about handicapping thoroughbreds from Brad. He's very knowledgeable. I also know Marc, hopefully he's doing well but I'm not sure what he does now.

A key line from this article by Brad Thomas: "Most bettors wager on short-priced favorites who have already reached their peaks and are actually more likely to tail off than to win."

That pretty much says it all.

I love those two guys. Used to sometimes sit with them on the top floor of Aqueduct and Belmont - right in line with the finish line - while they were working. Note books, stop watches, binoculars, charting, etc...

They did a a very nice multi-part handicapping seminar one year in the bowels of Aqueduct racetrack which taught me a lot.

Marc's last name I always couldn't remember exactly for some reason (just remembered Siegal as his name). They never cared for NYRA that much (I think Brad especially) and was not surprised when he left for Monmouth. Just going from memory, correct me if I'm wrong.

They're BOTH tremendous handicappers.

Very glad you started this thread. Brings back a lot of good memories and hope Marc is doing well with whatever he's doing - and now I know his name again!

Brad is the best. I was fortunate enough to work with him at Monmouth for a bit, looking forward to see him and opening day in a couple weeks!

Lets hope this weather changes
