I do not know the actual cost of each country's health system.
As for your sister..........there are many reason why people go to her (convenience, location, specialty, better doctoring, etc.)
But that's the whole premises...........with 10 times the population.........healthcare should be way cheaper in the States.

So if they are losing money, they should be able to make up for it with volume? I wonder what is wrong with those companies that lost over $200 million on the exchanges, don't they know they should just insure more people?

Actually, that is exactly what they should do, insure more people. More young and healthy people, that is.
Which is what the entire economics of the Ponzi scheme was predicated on. And which all those evil, racist opponents of ObamaCare said would not happen.
So the insurance companies are stuck with an overload of old and unhealthy people, and they keep paying out more and more in benefits. Which means they have to keep raising premiums, which drives away still more young and healthy people.

It can't be. Our country is the most obese country on the planet. We are also the country that does nearly all the R&D for new drugs and equipment. Other countries have price ceilings so we get to absorb the cost. When that changes the rest of the world is going to share in that R&D. We also demand more of our health system than anywhere. And because of that we have the finest equipment, doctors and facilities. And that is damn expensive. And American's are willing to pay it so it continues. We are also #1 in world in cures and that is expensive also. Other countries just buy you time. We cure more diseases than anywhere.

Maybe we should impose price ceilings on drugs, like all those other great nations of the world.
When companies STOP developing them, I am sure the reso the world will step up to the plate and take care of it.

They couldn't stop, according to Al.

So if the government said that good drugs are needed for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, then the drug companies would have to do what the government tells them to do.
See, no problem.

Expect your premiums to double again under Obamacare.
Expect it to be even more difficult to get a doctor appointment under Obamacare.
Expect even more doctors to stop being doctors under Obamacare.
The nightmare continues.

What planet to you live in?
So if our premiums are $700/month, they'll soon be $1,400?
Do you live on a planet where physician's assistants aren't taking over without regards to your insurance plan. Are your doctor's graduates from John Hopkins or similar college?
Are your doctors planning to quit soon?
You are not observing the real world with statements like this.

Congratulations if your premiums are ONLY $700. They are over $1,000 a month for many families.
Do you remember when they were less than $200 before Obamacare came in?
The Obamacare nightmare continues.
