Sandra Bland Arrest Video

There are two important sets of questions about what happened to Sandra Bland between July 10 and July 13 in Waller County, Texas. The first concerns the circumstances under which she was arrested. The second is about how and why she ended up dead in a jail cell three days later. Both questions have been addressed by materials released this week by authorities, though many uncertainties remain.

Tuesday afternoon saw the release of extraordinary dashcam footage of the traffic stop that led to Bland’s arrest. In the video, you can see Bland’s car making a lane change right before the officer who was driving behind her, who has been identified as Texas Department of Public Safety trooper Brian Encinia, pulls her over. “You seem very irritated,” he says to her, while standing next to the driver’s side window.

Absurd confrontation starts around 8 1/2 minutes into the video

“If I die in police custody”: Why Sandra Bland’s death is just the latest evidence that Black America is under attack

..No one should end up dead after receiving a citation for failure to properly signal a lane change. However, this is exactly what has happened to 28-year-old Sandra Bland, a resident of Illinois who was pulled over in Waller County, Texas, two Fridays ago, where she was traveling to take a new job at her alma mater, Prairie View A&M University. According to police, after she refused an officer’s instructions to stop smoking a cigarette, she was ordered out of the car, accused of assaulting an officer, and then wrestled to the ground. The video of the arrest only shows an officer’s knees in her back, and her yelling that he had hurt her arm and slammed her head into the ground. She was taken to jail, arraigned, given a $5,000 bond, which she made arrangements with her older sister to pay, and set for release on Monday morning. Instead, she was found dead of an alleged suicide, having supposedly hanged herself with a plastic bag.

How much taxpayer money is going to spent because some local cop got upset because a Black woman disrespected him? Police officers are supposed to be professionals. This guy was anything but. The cost of keeping some one jail is astronomical. On a cost benefit ratio, putting someone in jail over a traffic ticket and a little lip from someone is just plain stupid. Give her the ticket and send her on her way. The cop who is suppose to make the community safer did the exact opposite and is costing the taxpayers a bundle besides.

Besides hearing yourself type the words, what proof do you have that we have a 'police problem'? I hope your evidence is more compelling that those you present in the global warming debate. Otherwise, you and Goren come across as self loathing whiteys looking for a national police force because the feds do no wrong.

I assure you my loathing is reserved for some of the knee-jerking righties who make excuses for outright police racism, and AGW deniers who buy into idiotic vast paranoid conspiracy theories.

Let's all leap to conclusions that she was murdered in jail...

BTW, I heard a report that she had posted on social media about dealing with depression and some sort of mental condition, PRIOR to this incident.

Did this incident push her to the edge and then over it? Perhaps.

But then again, this incident came about because, once again, we have a whole nice segment of society that thinks it's just fine to disobey and challenge authority at every turn.

The officer makes a very reasonable request for her to put out the cig. Why didn't she simply put it out? I mean, WTF man?

Are police some sort of NEW INVENTION in this world? Is everyone just learning how to act around authority and cops?

I knew since I was a very young man that you don't **** AROUND with the police. They make a reasonable request, you best damn follow it, or there is going to be trouble. I'm not black. Neither is my brother. But he went too quickly to his glove compartment one day to get his registration info, and BAM, the next thing he knows, he has a gun pointed right at his head during a ROUTINE traffic stop.

You people who scream all this bullshit racism and "police problem" are nothing more than PART OF THE PROBLEM. This entire nation and world is turning to absolute dog shit because of the far-left liberal brainwashing that has been taking place the last 25-30 years+.

You are reaping what you've sown...have fun.

Unless she was hired to teach a course in comparative cursing her new employer got lucky. She was a powder keg waiting to explode. Off the charts looney tunes.

You liberals are delusional. She resisted arrest, was totally disrespectful, and after being booked she killed herself because she was a mental case.
Had she been white we wouldn't be having this discussion.
If I was a cop these days, I'd have serious reservations about pulling over anyone with dark skin. They're obviously above the law and have the media on their side 100%.
It's sickening what it's come to in this country.

ftr, i'm a registered republican and don't think we have a police problem in this country but in this case we did because everything that lady said was right.

she was actually driving good, checking traffic behind her, and yielding to the oncoming police car. she gets pulled over for moving out of the way? give me a break.

"you seem irritated?"

uhh? well, yeah? who wouldn't be?

fyp. That to me is the real problem. The overt racism emanating from the white house is palpable.

but she escalated the matter. That is on her. No?? She could have voiced her displeasure without even remotely doing what she did.

That's what the NOT GUILTY plea is for in court.

I'll state it again...are POLICE some NEW CONCEPT in our world? How the f**k do people think they can get away with the shit they pull on cops these days?

Black AND white people get pulled over all the time and think they didn't do anything wrong. It's happened to me. And I'm sure it's happened to you. But do you go off on the cop? Do you yell and disobey simple requests?

No, you don't. And that's how you don't end up in jail over a simple traffic stop.

Bunch of dumb-asses in this world...95% of the time, the idiots in these videos are getting exactly what they deserve for acting like complete idiot entitled assholes. ALL RACES...

well, he shared in the escalation. at poker I call these scenarios two donkeys passing in the night.

he pulls over an actual courteous driver for what is basically a technicality.

instead of just giving her the ticket and moving on to a potential real crime he asks a stupid leading question about her emotional state.

instead of just giving her the ticket and moving on to a potential real crime he bullies her into putting out her cigarette in her own car.

from what I saw in that video I think a career change will be good for him.
