I read several articles about the Weinstein trial. The charges were based on two women. In my opinion, based on what I read, Weinstein's guilty verdict and 23 year sentence was based more on his reputation as a casting couch producer and the general change in culture due to the Me Too movement than of evidence. There were no corroborating witnesses or forensic evidence, and the alleged sexual crimes happened 27 years ago.
One of the accusers who said that Weinstein raped her, not only sent him adoring emails after the alleged rape, but continued to date him. Another women, a model, said that he touched her so she went to the police. They put a wire on her. She met Weinstein again the next day, wearing a wire, and she said, "Why did you touch my breasts yesterday?" Weinstein is then heard on the recording saying, "I apologize, it won't happen again." The police heard the recording and told the model that the could not arrest Weinstein.
The case came down to their word against his, but over 80 women have some forward with similar allegations, and although these were not allowed in the trial, it's pretty obvious that the jury knew all about them.
I'm not trying to defend Weinstein, I think that the whole casting couch culture that's existed in Hollywood and other businesses is disgraceful and maybe even criminal. But, this was an odd trial because there really was no way to actually prove the crimes and it does seem odd that the woman who said that Weinstein raped her continued to date him. I also wonder why the actresses who sleep their way to the top are not being prosecuted. Another thing that I find odd, several actresses, including Gwyneth Paltrow and Jennifer Lawrence, have been photographed in affectionate photos with Weinstein, hugging and kissing him, and he also had a lot of very famous women who were friends of his. If he is a monster, why did these women seem to adore him?

I agree. I'm disgusted with what way too many women are trying to pull off today, in the name of 'Me Too' sexual abuse. Dance half naked; stroke private parts (a la Jennifer Lopez and Shakira), claim false rapes (a la Christine Blasey Ford et al), cave to a 'casting couch' for personal gain, porn-worthy YouTube videos by ego-bloated young women (a la Miley Cyrus)...and then, opportunistic claims of victim. Give me a break!
Am not saying that Weinstein isn't a gross dirt bag, either.

Some of those he 'allegedly' raped were staff/support and had no desire to star in a movie or win an academy award. Are you suggesting they are having false memories?

No, of course not. I did say "too many women," not all (gave examples of what I had in mind), and I did regulate HIM to "dirt bag." He's not an innocent player, here.

The 23-year sentence for third-degree rape shocked his legal team, especially since the prosecution did not actually have any legitimate proof or evidence that the rape actually took place. I don't even know if there should be such a thing as "third" degree rape, which has a big grey area.

Another one gets Clintonized. Epstein, Weinstein, Hubbell, the list goes on...
Bill & Hillary are more deadly than the Chinese flu. Maybe we should permanently isolate them for our own safety.

I saw this on youtube yesterday and found it interesting when Rose McGowan said Harvey is not the only one. She could easily name 20 others in the industry doing the same things as Harvey.
