The Brooklyn

I went off the winner because "they" weren't betting it! Can't recall a M/L favorite (5/2) actually opening up the longest price in a race (10/1 or more, I believe I caught him) in NY.

Anyway, the way PERCUSSION held on bodes well for FREEDOM CHILD, and the way the winner closed bodes well for ORB, so I'm sticking with and as my keys tomorrow.

He came from so far back....rider came from far away too.

Obviously they knew what they were doing when they flew Gryder in from Hastings to ride.

The Brooklyn

"Gryder the rider" was how he was known when he rode NYRA years ago. Kicking myself in the ass for going off him. Sometimes you just can't look at the board.

Gryder had all day to watch the races and formulate a strategy. That might have been the difference, he went in with a specific plan.

So where do you go next with Cali? The Arlington St Leger and hope he acts just as well on turf?

They are aiming for the BC Marathon - it was cheaper to keep him here than send him back to South America and come back in the fall, so they got a nice win today.

btw....I wonder if the jock had GPS so he could find the field?

I was out all day so I just saw the re-run, what a nice race for the old hoss. I remember the instructions the original trainer gave Gryder before the BC Marathon were something like 'Just let him lope along, he'll kick it in when he's ready.'

Live web cam shows the track still giving off some sort of reflection.

This race actually aided me today. That is right, Silly Sullivan, I could not think of the horses name.

Which of the two races did you enjoy more? Me, The Brooklyn. Why, as a fan it was truly a result that anyone watching, I do not think would have expected that late run slop, soup, snow or sun. Just a great race to hook fans. Great prices, well good prices both big races, Brooklyn & Belmont.
