Oil & Nat Gas

Maybe I missed it on here, but would be interested on any thoughts on where these two energy plays are headed. Back in late '14-'16, one of my better investments was shorting oil when it hit $110/bbl. Since then not so much. And Natural gas I've avoided like Turf sprints.

I'm currently shorting oil again in a small way, which is contrary to articles I'm reading about oil supplies and production levels. If electric cars are to make any inroads, my play makes sense long term, but I'm mostly a technical analyst, but keep an open ear to fundamentals.
The other commodities don't hold any interest, in that I don't know enough about them.

Natural gas is the commodity on the move.....as soon as the distribution problems are solved it will be gangbusters. Fleets not having the distribution problems have already started making the change. Just a matter of time before it will be the product used to make electricty especially in developing nations.

currently shorting oil again
It looks like I should have added to my position. Oil getting hammered today.

Incoming I'm still on sidelines on gas, hasn't moved to the trend line that I use. Your fundamental insights are appreciated.

I think shorting oil is the proper move......gas will continue to replace oil. USA is the largest producer of gas, also one of the reasons for renegotiating our trade agreements.

Oil is broken and will never be at $150 again..nonetheless oil companies are way oversold..stick with companies paying a divi that aren't going to go bankrupt and you'll.do okay at these levels..you wont hit a homerun but a return with div beyond a cd or money market is a achievable

Very sound investment strategy.....the woods are full of these Inc. after the tax cuts and goverment regulations being reigned in.

Gas

Natural gas is up modestly 9 straight days although the long term trend is still down. Short term indicators moderately bullish, and the 8 EMA is close to crossing the 20 EMA, but I would like to see the 20 cross the 40, and longer averages to see the longer term trend reversed. Futures today look like the 9 day streak ends. Still sitting out.

The gas producers in the Marcellus are cutting their own throat right now, I believe natural gas is the fuel of the future but only buying and selling seasonally, names I like are Cabot and Antero.

I got mostly out of the pipes a few months ago but I think that with all the anti energy groups, having operating pipelines is like getting the last chair in musical chairs, at some point no additional pipe will be built and these guys will mint money. Plenty of time to get aboard.

Nat gas has been steadily climbing over the last three weeks, and did that exact same thing back in Jun-July and in Apr-May before crashing back down. Funny but I belonged to an investment club almost 30 years ago, and our very first purchase was Cabot after their IPO. Both Cabot and Antero's charts look like a sliding board this past year.

I don't own shares in either one right now or anything else in the natural gas complex. Dow chemicals I own, nice dividend and they benefit from low ng and ngl prices.

$Natgas

Bought UGAZ yesterday, hoping it was a bottom. Can't get a handle on Oil at the moment.(edit) On 2nd look, USO looks to be going lower before it rebounds.
