Why is Bill Mott so cold?
Like 2 for 75 in August at Saratoga. With MANY beaten favorites. Went from one of my fav trainers to least favorite.

Been betting against him all meet...not that I landed on too many winners but the past few weeks been tossing him out of races blindly during this streak.

Yes he is an easy toss. Losing with favorites left and right. Im just salty because he is killing me in my jockey trainer fantasy pool I'm in. He honestly used to be someone I liked rooting for. Not anymore.

This came up a few weeks ago when someone asked about him being labeled as "cold" in TimeformUS PPs. It was deserved then (and I pulled up the numbers and posted here) and it hasn't got any better. As bettors these are things you want. Short term trends are often more valuable than long term trends.
Also, I'm changing the title a bit. A Hall of Famer like Bill Mott doesn't deserve that.

Mott has 10 wins at the meet,putting him in the trainer standings top 10.
And he's third in purse earnings.
He's has a couple of graded stakes scores in the National Museum of racing Hall of Fame with Casa Creed & the Shuvee with Golden Award.
And his nice 2yo filly Frank's Rockette has run second in the Gr. 2 Adirondack and the Gr. 1 Spinaway.

12% for the entire meet is not really something most would describe as "ice cold". He's a 16% trainer on the year, so not like he is Jason Servis dropping to 12%.
The 3 for 51 for Mott, yes, but that isn't for the whole meet.
As is what happens in horse racing, of course he won the 1st today at a nice price.
