The track moved from "under" the Daytona NASCAR track to over by I-95. I'm guessing you were at the older one that still had two seperate grandstand buildings (one of which was used for storage) left over from segregation.

Yes, that would be correct. I was there probably 10 years ago. I didn't know that the track moved but anything has to be an upgrade over the old place.

I take wagers for dog races, but I don't bet them. There just isn't as much "help" out there to teach you how to handicap a dog race as there is for TB or even Quarterhorse.

Try Penn National. Pretty much the same thing.

Do you work for an ADW? Which ones take dogs?

I do work for an ADW.
I sent you a private message of the one place I know that takes dog wagers. Because of our "social media" policy, I cannot name where I work in a forum.

More than a half dozen ADW's offer dog racing. Pretty much every "independent" ADW that is not owned by the powerful horse lobby... In fact I'd venture that all of the better ADW's offer greyhounds. IF your ADW does not (?) then, you're missing out on more choices, and probably more favorable rates elsewhere...

The best kept secret in racing:
  • Faster action! Easier to follow on TV!
Higher average prices on exotic wagers
No humans riding & controlling the animal
No Judges changing results due to Inquiry or whatever
Always Full fields of 8 or more greyhounds!

How big are the pools though? My impression is that they do not exceed several thousands which means that they present very limited opportunities for a big score...

Good question, how big do you need? The top 3 dog tracks probably still get a daily $500K. About the same or better, as many smaller horse tracks... But yeah, it's down quite a bit over the past 10 years... Kind of tough when you're shut out in N.Y, L.A. and Chicago. And Ohio, NJ, MD, etc. KY of course.

Fortunately Greyhound racing is alive and well online! In addition to several ADW's with live video, you can watch dogs at: www.bigjackpotbetting.com - A great new website sponsored by the folks at TrackData. Really tons of fun, like a chat room w/ Live Internet podcast. FREE to watch and wager.

Big Jackpot is doing something very cool... A small track in Tri-State WV, saw its handle nearly double, over a few months of being featured. That caused a few people to take notice. They now run a Matinee show Live several days each week, from one of the greatest dog tracks: Palm Beach Kennel Club. Check it out.

Obviously the larger the pool the better it is...

Ideally I need a pool big enough to sustain at least a $3K total bet in exacta (ranging from $100 to $400 each individual bet) so my slippage will be less than 10%, this translated in an exacta pool in the range of $100K.... The minimum pool I will consider for serious betting will be in the range of $50K where I will limit my max position to around $1,500

The biggest tracks pool is 1/10th of what you need...

For example previous poster stated....500k...well that's for the ENTIRE card...and ALL pools...so...

so devide 500/14 races...w/ win/place/show/ex./qn./tri./sf/occassional other gimmicks....

biggest pools infrequently...15k...on a sat...just watch Derby Lane...they give pool totals...

Unless you bet for fun 15K is really low

You should have spent an evening there on a big-race night.

Nice, expansive dining room with nice sightlines and it was very energized for a night like the Wonderland Derby.

When I visited there years later, it was depressing to see it.
