Opening weekend

compared to last year the attendance and handle were both up vs. the prior year.

not a caveat, but when i saw the opening day card this year, i commented to a friend how good i thought those races were compared to years past. that may or may not be the reason, but it was good to see something look good in racing now and show it in black and white.

Good news especially with the Thursday start.

In some respects, it was an easy comparison b/c last year's period included a Monday. On the other hand, I think opening on a Thursday is tougher than a Friday. Net, net a decent start.
