The old Mayor and Sheila Jackson Lee (who lost the Mayors race) tried to say they would never settle with Fire Dept. Or that they would settle for much less.

650 million is crippling at this point.

This new Mayor is up to his ass in Alligators and I don’t see a way out….

No paywall for me either and I usually get the worst internet experience of all. It has been ages since I personally knew firefighters who mostly worked in LA County in California. Is that article inaccurate, lacking details, or is firefighter pay different in Texas compared to California? Or has California even changed the way they pay firefighters from 30 years ago? Most the guys I knew made more a year that even Austin quoted pay just working the standard 3 shifts a week. A shift was 24 hours, a lot of guys worked 3 straight and got 4 off.

The firefighters in Houston were topping out at less than 35k if I remember right. They were stuck there for 8 yrs while the last Mayor refused to negotiate.

The last Mayor was handing out internships at the airport that paid 90k a year…….as long as your family was donating to his campaign. And he got away with it

There is not only a political divide in Houston government but there is a race line. Blacks are favored over everyone else. It’s like the mafia
