Free money giveaway yesterday at Parx with this horse. But considering the surface, one HAS to downgrade the performance. Rail and inside biases both yesterday at Parx and on Haskell day at Monmouth. Those two past performances are puffed up big time due to the biases.
BTW, what the hell were the other riders thinking? Had they watched the other races? Letting Bayern get loose thru a :24 quarter? It almost looked like a NYRA turf race.

He won 2 GR1 races as of today.
Main Sequences has won 4.
Clearly, he is HOY.

Then, shouldn't they have awarded it to Cape Blanco and Gio Ponti?
I doubt that Main Sequence will be HOY.

Me too, but clearly, he did more than Bayern this year.
Bayern only fired when he ahd thins all his own way.
MS, being a closer, took whatever they gave him and beat it.
Bayern is more of a product of biased dirt surfaces than he is of any kind of class.

I agree. And it wasn't as if there was nobody in the Turf field. Arc runnerup in there. If Wise Dan can get it as a turfer, why can't Main Sequence? Who else is worthy? Bayern? Maybe. Goldencents? California Chrome?

Does it really matter?
The awards have nothing to with the game's customers - it is a venue for the racing elite to dress up and play hoity toity.
The customers - bettors - get nothing out of it.
They don't even get to vote, so why worry about it?
You get people talking about that and they aren't talking about drugs and how owners get a free pass when they hire drug trainers over and over.

It isn't official, but very nice call early in the year. Didn't look good after the Preakness.

Common ground!
And on election day!
It's like handle and attendance?
Who the hell cares
If is isn't about the racing and betting, it ain't worth knowing.

The correct way to analyze this class is to understand that there are quite a few that are legitimate at 10f on dirt, and that racing luck probably will determine the outcome as much as any perceived bias. This has been a quality 3 yo bunch, being deep and aolid at 10f despite an array of running styles.
It does not take a strong bias to make each horse a contender to take into consideration. Throw this whole crowd onto a hypothetically fairest racetrack of your choice, and there would be an interesting debate about the outcome.

Are they that good, or do look better than they are, considering not a single legitimate older horse left running the second half of the year?
One 3yo ran in two of the three 10F Gr1's for the age and demolished them in one and was very close in the other. Three 3yos were at the wire in the Classic, the rest of the 3yo crop, you can have. Lots HOM on that list.

Next races mapped out
This has the makings of a great year for older horses - and for racing fans.

Bayern to return in CDHandicap, Met Mile next goal, per Baffert
BAYERN, who has not raced since capturing the Breeders' Cup Classic, is scheduled to return to action on Kentucky Derby Day in the seven-furlong Churchill Downs Handicap, trainer Bob Baffert said Monday.
While that race had been the expected comeback for Bayern, Baffert added that he is hoping to use the Churchill Downs Handicap as a springboard to the Met Mile on Belmont Day. Bayern won the Woody Stephens on the Belmont undercard last year.
Bayern is owned by Kaleem Shah, the owner of Santa Anita Derby winner Dortmund.

If Bayern and Shared Belief both show up for the Met I'll be getting flashbacks of the good ol' days. I also may be broke before the Belmont.
