Taxes on the wealthy are not high the list of things I care about. That being said the crazy spending that democrats are so fond of will definitely work its way down the ladder. So what starts off as a tax on the rich will eventually becomes a tax on everyone as they run out ample revenues. Moreover, I have seen zero evidence in my lifetime that Government has a clue how to fix the homeless problem. In general, they just do what government does best, waste huge amounts of money, have committees and lots of meetings (the "smart" people love to hear themselves talk) and get nothing done.

Exactly right! Sometimes indirectly. As they run off development and the average wealth level falls, infrastructure spending falls…roads and more suffer. Businesses go away etc. NEW BUSINESS IS NON EXISTENT.

When planning for expansion income levels of your customers is a big deal. As wealth goes down in certain areas, so does expansion.

This hurts everybody in Real Estate. They have less money to spend-less deals to work etc. I see some easy ways to get around this tax, but I’m sure the powers that be will react and lock down the loop holes.

Just another tax in California that there will be nothing to show for, guaranteed. Unless you can cure drug addiction and mental illness you are not going to put a dent in the homeless population.

I wonder if that will have an effect on the people that rehabilitate high end homes to resell that have fell in disrepair, 4 or 5.5% tax is a big chunk of cash in that market. That is a tax on the gross sale that will eat into profits.

It's like every other problem.
EVERY.OTHER.PROBLEM.

All the potential solutions that could work are removed before the serious problem solving begins.

I contend that every problem has an answer that, at the very least, greatly improves the current state of affairs.

HOMELESS PROBLEM
The solution to the homeless problem is really very simple and it's been around forever. It's called, If you don't work, you don't eat.

The able-bodied and able-brained will simply decide they need a j-j-j... they need to go to work.

Why is this off the table?

_________
How about another example to prove my point?
ROBO CALLS
So easy.
The government holds the phone providers responsible.

"You have 90 days to solve this problem or you will get a $500m fine." Watch how fast they fix that.

Everyone who makes a call has a traceable number. After all, the companies do BILL the callers, right?

If they couldn't get paid, I bet that problem would be solved in about a week.

And it is the biblical solution! It's no wonder the worldly-minded want no part of it! For the most part, homelessness is a moral problem with a spiritual/moral solution.
